Hotel Les Deux Gares, Paris
Paris, le website is packed full of them and for good reason, because we are Francophiles. Yes yes, fun for a weekend, fun for a midweek or simply (and secretly the most fun) for a whole week. And then, ooh lalaWhen we saw this pearl flash by, we started looking en masse for an excuse to visit Paris. Sold, yes we are. And a bit 'on' the almost unbelievably handsome Hotel Les Deux Gares. In Paris, that is. In case you missed the memo after seeing the image (we get you).
Sometimes there are places where you want to put everything you see in your suitcase and take it with you for your own home. And it's called Hotel Les Deux Gares. Oops, we suffer from this a lot - in a positive way. It's all in the beautiful old building, completely renovated and furnished by English interior designer Luke Edward Hall. And that combination is quite impressive match made in heaven. Print on print on print. Stripes, floral motif and - because why not - a wild animals on the wall. Everything smart and beautiful, crammed into the building. And yet, everything fits. The dream.
The rooms are colorful and cheerful (we simply describe them as vintage with a big wink). And that wink in particular is why we would rather arrive today than tomorrow. English chic combined with French soul. And you would almost forget: even nice beds. You know, those hotel beds you sleep in come want/need to jump on. Ha! The bathrooms are all different, one with soft pink tiles and the other bright yellow with green mirrors. Toiletries from Good News, verbena, spicy berries and a bit of tobacco, delicious. We would also like to move in here?
Also a fitness room with the latest WaterRower equipment, what? Exactly yes, we had that too, but in a nutshell it seems to be good for you... Can be useful, after a portion of French snails, baguette (with butter) and du vin. Just your Burgundian guilty-feeling grow away or else just get on that cross trainer? Or, our personal favorite; just do an extra active round 10th arrondissement, here are some great tips. Quite special in the middle of Paris, but at Hotel Les Deux Gares they also have a sauna. So going outside is not really necessary. And that's nice for a rainy day or - just because it's possible - a good massage between shopping, dining, visiting museums, eating and 'whatever floats your trip to paris boat' Through.
And then, just when you think it can't get any better... the next thing comes up. There is a café in the same building at this top address. And that's not just any cafe. Here too, Luke Edward Hall has really gone wild on the interior. We can be short or long about it, but it is distinctive, surprising, colorful and exactly what we find incredibly beautiful to look at. In the extension of the hotel, it is a match but with those good French accents. Owner Frederic Lesire can be found behind the bar. The kitchen is under the supervision of chef Jonathan Schweizer and on your plate authentic French classics with a modern twist. And a wide choice of wines in the glass, nice.
Hotel Les Deux Gares is located in the 10th district of Paris, a 1-minute walk from Gare de l'Est and a 3-minute walk from Gare du Nord. We're already packing our suitcases.
