Barts Beauty Escape: Les Sources de Caudalie, the wine(!) spa resort where beauty comes to life
Caudalie We know that beauty brand. And how. Especially that shower gel that instantly transforms your bathroom into a French spa. The scent The Vines (literally: vine tea) is one of those things that makes you want to soak yourself in it a second time. That's the brand. That's what we mean by Caudalie.
And then it turns out there is also a Les Sources de Caudalie to exist. Coincidence? Certainly not. The skincare brand was founded in the 90s by Mathilde Thomas and her husband Bertrand at the Château Smith Haut-Lafitte winery in Bordeaux. They drew inspiration from grape seeds—rich in antioxidants—and thus both the cosmetics and vinotherapy—treatments using grape and wine extracts—were born. Four years later, still in the 90s, on the same estate, the hotel Les Sources de Caudalie opened. The hotel is run by Mathilde's sister Alice and her husband Jérôme. What a family!
The hotel is truly where the brand comes to life. The spa uses only Caudalie products, and everything revolves around wine and grapes: baths, scrubs, massages. A true wellness dream come true. wellness & wineIt doesn't get more French than this.
And the hotel itself? For the look, think linen, old wood, marble. The combination of old and new, simplicity and luxury. Other services: two restaurants and a bar (plenty of opportunities to actually drink wine), two swimming pools, and the renowned spa.

The food is also worth it! At La Grand' Vigne, you can dine in a chic two-star restaurant. For something a little less sophisticated, try the more rustic La Table du Lavoir, where you'll enjoy grandmother's recipes, or—how could it be otherwise—the wine bar Rouge.
And the best part? You're just twenty minutes from Bordeaux, nestled among the vineyards. So whether you're here for the scenery, the spa, the wine, or the gastronomy, you'll see nothing but happy faces.
