Another wonderful Turkish holiday resort: Macakizi Hotel Bodrum

We at Barts Boekje - and no, that is not the Toilet Duck way - believe there is a huge resurgence of the Turkish Riviera. After it was 'not done' for a while to go on holiday to Turkey, things are starting to pick up again (we will leave aside all political issues here - we know that it will not all be a piece of cake (yet). egg) and we spotted one delicious Turkish holiday resort after another. We already found perfection, especially with the kids Hillside Beach Resort in the small fishing town of Fethiye, and our next destination is without doubt the more famous Bodrum. It is fashionable there, especially on the coast just outside the city, and it... Macakizi Hotel Bodrum is one of the top players that belongs in that category. Kids welcome, but you better arrange for a babysitter.

Macakizi Hotel Bodrum

About a 30-minute drive from the center of Bodrum, and just as many minutes from the airport, and you check in without checking out for a while. The Macakizi Hotel Bodrum is one of those resorts where you stay 'indoors', because the best is outside. The pale, powder-white rooms of the Maçakizi hotel are meant for relaxing, while outside there are only beautiful people chatting at the bar and later joining the hotel's first-class restaurant. You will feel it coming: the Macakizi Hotel Bodrum is not cheap at around 500 euros per room per night... Typical case of saving up for a while and then combining it with a cheaper address in the already nice Bodrum - it will work (more tips to follow, also of the cheaper kind).

Anyway, it should be clear: go for a night or two and get everything you can out of the hotel. And that's quite something! There are only 21 rooms so you can always book a spot in the amazing spa – a must.

There are decadent facials, massages, body scrubs and wraps, manicures and pedicures, men's treatments, bespoke treatments and personal fitness sessions, all in the open-plan Nuxe spa treatment rooms with bamboo-lined walls. There is a hammam behind a glass front and everything smells of flowers 24/7.

If you want romance and peace, go outside the high season (July and August). Children are welcome, but the hotel is not very kiddy-proof, thanks to the boulder-strewn gardens and the fence-less sea. If you do take them with you, the hotel staff will look after them with love. Nice bonus.
