New smart hotel: YOTEL in Amsterdam North
What would the globe look like in 100 years? Do we then drive our flying car to the hairdresser and then get a haircut by a robot? Who knows. The new smart hotel YOTEL in Amsterdam North is in any case concerned with the future. You will soon be able to order a coffee delivered by drone. I don't kid you. At the moment we don't see it yet, but we are very curious. Oh, and you can also sleep there, very old-fashioned if you want, on one ear. Some things never go out of style.
So YOTEL, Hotel YOTEL. A new place to stay in the Buiksloterham district in Amsterdam North. Sounds far away, but did you know that this is the Amsterdam AA location (of the future) for startups and creative companies? Is so. The start has already been made because there is plenty to do in the hood, some more creative than others. In any case, the district is hot & happening. Read here more. That's besides the point.
Then the hotel itself. Recovery, that is, the yo-tel. Don't think you're just going to book a room there... Certainly not. The hotel of the future even goes so far as to replace the word 'room' with 'cabins'. YOTEL cabins equipped with a Smartbed, HD Smart TV and adjustable mood lighting. In total, YOTEL has 202 of these cleverly laid out and furnished cabins (which also means the price is not too bad at YOTEL).
There are plenty of tech gadgets, but that is not the only reason why we are interested in YOTEL. There are quite a few pros. We heard that the hotel also has an outdoor cinema. In the summer you will be in a good mood at YOTEL, also thanks to the terrace on the water.
Of course there is also fun for people from the neighborhood: restaurant/bar KOMYUNITI seems to be unmissable, if only because of the drones (!) that deliver food and drinks. Why? Simple: to fix the staff shortage in the catering industry. And no, we really don't have to worry that these drones will soon take away jobs. For example, General Manager Joy Maroulás says: “In response to the staff shortage in the hospitality industry in Amsterdam, we want to use drones to fly food and drinks to tables during busy periods to save our staff valuable time. This gives them more opportunities to spend time with our guests, ensuring we provide the best possible service to our customers.” Fair enough.
Is it news? No: the British hotel chain YOTEL already has a hotel at Schiphol. With YOTEL Amsterdam Noord, the YOTEL counter in Amsterdam is at two. And counting, we guess.
