How do we keep the mind happy & free of fear these days? The tips for the best online inner trips

If you can't travel outside, travel inside.

That's Bart's Soul Sisters motto nowadays, because if we keep our... mind If we want to keep ourselves happy & free of fear these bizarre days, we believe that we can no longer avoid making that much-feared journey inside...

If you can't travel outside, travel inside.

If you can't travel outside, travel inside.

The most obvious, least scary, most accessible and least vague tool in this area is – of course – the practice of yoga. Even the most down-to-earth Dutchman has not been able to ignore the phenomenon of yoga for years, so for the sake of convenience we assume that most of us have rolled out such a mat at least once on a Blue Monday somewhere. .

And maybe after lock down week number 5 you have also found your way to the online sessions. In all honesty, it actually took a Corona crisis for us to finally pull that mat out of the closet here at home... But the time has come, we've got it. Every morning (well, almost every) before we brave the lion's den (= the living room that is systematically transformed into a veritable Zoo in the early hours by 2 toddlers), we sneak into the only 'save space' in the house – the attic – to bring the best yoga gurus on the web to us. After that, it is seriously (slightly) better to just let the Zoo be that Zoo. Amen.

More on the best, most inspiring yoga gurus later, for sure, but for those of us who... yoga vibes still not feeling it (just good friends), or for those who dare to go a step further, we have much more in store in the coming weeks! Everything about that mind to remain somewhat happy & free of fear in these quite bizarre times.

REIKI (remote) with Joëlle Vierling

REIKI (remote) with Joëlle Vierling

This week we're diving straight into the deep end with one Remote Reiki session by Joëlle Vierling. It soon turns out that in this case it is actually not too bad with diving into that deep end, because you can just stay in your own bed for this. Ha!

Moreover, if it doesn't do any harm, it won't do any harm, because as Joëlle herself says: Reiki has 100% positive effects on body, mind and emotions. And it can never hurt, but it's good to know, right?

Joëlle first explains to us what Reiki actually is and what you can expect from a session with her: “Reiki is an ancient healing technique from Japan. 'Rei' means 'Universal life' and 'ki' means 'energy'. This vital energy flows through everything and everyone. During a Reiki treatment, the Reiki practitioner 'channels' life energy to the client, he/she will then receive exactly what he/she needs at that moment. Reiki does not cure diseases, but it heals and improves your energy field. It can remove blockages, help you relax and reduce stress levels. How you experience a session is different for everyone. For some it is purely a moment of relaxation and others experience sensations such as tingling, others feel hot or cold and some receive messages, images or colors.”

Although Joëlle has been one of our 'Soul Sisters' here in Ibiza for years, she is currently stranded in the Netherlands and flying back is unfortunately not an option for her. But Joëlle has the power to turn necessity into a virtue in no time and has discovered that her treatments have at least as greater an impact when she performs them remotely than when she performs them physically.

To be very honest, this was quite a bit of a 'how?' moment, but we went into it with confidence. Joëlle has been practicing Reiki for years and was taught the gene by her parents, who are also both Reiki masters.

So here we go:

Anyway, me in Ibiza, on a bed in that save space up there in the attic, Joëlle with a photo of me in the Netherlands. I did my best to just let everything be and pass over me, just as Joëlle had instructed me. I started to relax better and better, my hands started to tingle and I sank deeper and deeper into the mattress, as it were. I started seeing different images and then a purple light. It felt like I was in a state of being between being awake and sleeping, and at a certain point it felt like I was waking up from this again. It all went completely smoothly and was actually very nice and relaxing.

For those who dare:

For those who dare:

After the session, Joelle WhatsApped me with a report of what she had received. I could place most of the things she mentioned bizarrely well, for example she also talked about that purple light, which turns out to stand for transformation and spirituality (wow). It also turned out that we had both noted down exactly the same time at which we felt the session had ended. At the end she drew a tarot card for me, in which I also recognized myself almost scary well...

Don't ask me how it's possible, because I still don't fully understand it, but I now know that Reiki really works. After the session I still felt extremely relaxed and zen, but also very energetic, clear and powerful and I have rarely slept so well and deeply.

You can book a session with Joëlle via her website www.reikibyjoelle.com She offers her remote sessions for 45 euros.

And, also check out Joelle instagram! Then you immediately see for yourself what a cool chick she is. We are fans.
