Restaurant Flore** (in hotel De L'Europe Amsterdam)

The restaurant once bore the beautiful hotel De L'Europe Amsterdam the title Bord'Eau, and Restaurant Bord'Eau had no less than two Michelin stars at the time. The restaurant became Restaurant Flore and that was also an immediate success. In fact, Flore now also has two stars! Chef Bas van Kranen strike againWhat makes the story even better is that Flore, in addition to having two Michelin stars, also has a Green Star and a top 10 position in the global We're
Smart Green Guide has. On On April 2, 2025, Flore reopened its doors - it got even better, with a new design and a new 'conscious fine dining' menu.  Anyway, sustainability, local craftsmanship and ultimate quality at its best, in a matching gorgeous coat.

The quality (and okay, also the classic gastronomy) that you are used to from Van Kranen & Co, of course, but with more creativity, sustainability and pure products. On the menu light dishes, local ingredients and a weekly changing menu. Fancy that! Elegant simplicity is what they call it themselves, and when we see the menu and the looks of Restaurant Flore, we believe that immediately.

The name Flora comes from the word 'flora' which means 'flowering'. And that refers to the farmers and growers who handle animals, vegetables with care and have an eye for biodiversity. The suppliers Flore purchases from, you understand. The kitchen of Flora does not use dairy products and vegetables occupy an important place on the menu. Also nice: the basement of Flore now houses a fermentation lab and a 'Conscious fine dining' space. Van Kranen & Co make juices and vegetables in it, among other things. Guests can drink special wines with a matching dish.

Now about that new gorgeous coat: vFrom the moment you step through Flore’s signature oak entrance, you’ll know how the rest of the evening is going to unfold: De L’Europe’s classic grandeur and impeccable service mixed with a sustainable restaurant that emphasizes the organic, natural surroundings. Walls made from lime hemp, an innovative bio-based material with carbon-negative properties, lots of texture, brass accents, and handcrafted furniture. And an undulating ceiling (inspired by the currents of the Amstel River) – hello, great acoustics. Also nice: the former Private Dining Room is no longer exclusive to groups only, but can now also be reserved individually, where you dine in an intimate setting with other guests. The Kitchen Table is its name, and it offers a unique glimpse into the kitchen.
