The nicest playgrounds in the Netherlands

The nicest playgrounds in the Netherlands

A little playground is always open (nah yes, you get the point), the sun has arrived and so one plus one equals two. Previously you could use the list the nicest playgrounds in Amsterdam already read (you can still do this via the previous link) and this time we are going national. The nicest playgrounds from The Netherlands (also for parents) can be found below. You're welcome again!

Noord-Holland

Noord-Holland

You may have seen it before on our site: Tap Leak in Overveen, near Haarlem. It remains a favorite. Right on the cycle path, this nice place with its red shutters, enormous terrace and playground is not to be missed. An iconic building next to the climbing dune and a favorite among walkers, cyclists and young parents who let their offspring get some air while they do their own well deserved order a coffee. There's a good chance it won't stop at just a coffee. They are often open until 21:00 PM and serve breakfast, lunch, drinks and dinner (except on Mondays). And because of the great success of cheese fondue, they offer it all year round, you certainly won't hear any complaints from us.

Prefer a larger playground in the Haarlem area? You will find that in Bennebroek. And by bigger we mean really big, read: the largest in Europe. Playground Linnaeushof (you could also describe it as an amusement park) has a total of 350 playground equipment and attractions. Enough schadenfreude for children from 2 to 12 years old. It costs 17,00 entrance and then it is hours of fun.

Haarlem - Nursery garden

Haarlem - Nursery garden

In Haarlem you will also find several nice play areas, starting with the Haarlemmer Nursery Garden. Next to the recently opened nature play area, called Toad pool, they also have a walking park with a gnome path, animal meadow and self-harvest garden. The best part (especially for the parents) is really The Grow Café. The products they use are seasonal as much as possible and combating food waste is high on the agenda here. For example, you will find the 'No waste plank' on the menu, which consists of bread sticks made from rescued bread and other healthy ones no waste surprises from the kitchen. Guilt-free to enjoy!

Amsterdam

Amsterdam

From Haarlem we continue to Amsterdam, where you can certainly find gems of playgrounds. Playground The Wild West is one of those. A place where no child comes away clean (old clothes!) and where it is always great fun. You can register for one of the group activities (building rafts and looking for animals), but for the little ones the playground equipment, hopping over the water (with mom and/or dad), walking through the exciting man-sized reed beds and the exciting cable car are already available. unforgettable. Also Groot Melkhuis en Vondeltuin in the Vondelpark there are playgrounds not to be missed in Amsterdam, just like Uj Klaren at the Weteringplantsoen.

And: Youthland! Really nice and also next to the Flevopark where you will find one of the best kept secrets in Amsterdam: distillery 't Nieuwe Diep

Plasters of Dappr

Plasters of Dappr

All that running around and climbing produces cat stuff, they say. No worries, we have something nice for that: the plasters from Dappr. The plasters are made of bamboo, without plastic. Even the wrapper is made of paper. As Dappr itself says: they are developed for the dream chasers who fall and get up again. And if they do fall, you can soften the sadness with a cheerful plaster with dinosaurs, ponies or perhaps a cool panther print plaster. That way the sadness is quickly forgotten, that sounds nice, doesn't it? The plasters come in a handy box, so you can easily find them even in your (perhaps disorganized) large bag.

't Gooi

't Gooi

The Unity is the meeting place of Blaricum. Nice for a dinner, quick bite, atmospheric drinks and for the (small) playground. A very large heath, where they can build huts, walk, climb trees, or just play tag.

The charming, monumental building is located in Laren: George L.A, which is perfect for an outdoor visit (with or without the kids). There is a large garden with secluded seating areas where you can sit under the old chestnut trees. Relax with the sun on your face.

At Tea garden Eemnes everyone is welcome, whether you are just the two of you or 100 people, everything is possible. There is a large, pleasant garden, plenty of seating areas, a cozy tea house, greenhouses, a fireplace and a nice playground for the kids.

Located in Vinkeveen Wander Island, the restaurant on the water. All dishes on the menu are for sharing and enjoying together. Always busy in the summer, because you can enjoy swimming there.

For the Lindenhoff it's just fun. Here everything is free and you can stand and go wherever you want. Delicious cakes and coffee, nice playground with sweet cows, chickens, cats, sheep and pigs. Time flies by here. You can simply buy those groceries on the way back from the farm shop.

In Abcoude near Anna Haen it feels like home and you get the tastiest freshly baked cakes. Everything seasonal, with a smile and attention to details. A nice place that you can rent for family lunch, high tea, drinks, private dinner, team outing or even for a wedding.

PorterHouse Houses is located in a beautiful spot in the Nautical Quarter. A beautiful building with two terraces. Do you want to sit covered under a heater, or on it? the waterfront? In the summer you can rent boats including food and drinks from Porterhouse. They are also located in Naarden, Weesp and Almere Duin.

Located on the beach in Zeewolde FikaFika stands for conviviality, and that is what it is here. Fun with kids, nice on the beach.

At Restaurant Hendrik, in Vreeland, it's like visiting your grandmother, but with a hip look. On the terrace you feel as if you are no longer in the Netherlands, and inside, well, inside that is also very nice. Pancakes for the kids, delicious food for the parents. Just a place you want to go.

When the sun shines, you want to be there Walhalla be in Harderwijk. Feet in the sand, drinks in hand. Here you can swim, play, eat and end the day with a sunset. Need we say more about it?

You will find it on the edge of the green city park in Amersfoort, in a place full of history Park House. Cozy corners with books, games table, playground with sandbox and water pump and also a green park in front of the door with a play hill.

The Green Exit is doing well and is a circular hub. Everything here is about change, for you and for the world. Truly a place to discover and do.

On the Island | Nederhorst den Berg

On the Island | Nederhorst den Berg

If you had to name a place where you immediately experience a holiday feeling, then it is there On the Island, in Nederhorst den Berg. La vie Est Belle because here you are in Italy, with a restaurant located on the Vecht. The drive there is already wonderful: small winding roads. You can enjoy those upcoming sultry summer evenings here on the terrace with antipasti boards, Aperol, freshly baked pizzas and, as icing on the cake, finish with a tiramisu. The only downside to this place: people know it and know where to find it. So it is busy, but worth it.

In the colder months you can sit inside the greenhouse or in the restaurant. Kids play in the small play attic, and as soon as the sun shines the kids can also play in the playground or splash in the small swimming pool.

Play park Oud Valkeveen - Naarden

Play park Oud Valkeveen - Naarden

Proceed to Naarden because here, in the middle of a nature reserve between Huizen and Naarden, Playground Oud Valkeveen. A real veteran, because this park has been around for about 95 years. The park has a large playground, a theater, its own beach at the Gooimeer and many places to relax in the sun. There is also an indoor arcade and a cinema and for toddlers there is 'Miniland' and interactive shows in the theater every day. There is also a snack bar, restaurant, 'beach bar' and an ice cream cart to replenish energy levels between games.

Camping Geversduin - Castricum

Camping Geversduin - Castricum

Op Campsite Geversduin in Castricum you can come by, even without sleeping there, for the nice wooden play equipment and the cozy adjacent terrace. On this terrace, which belongs to the restaurant knot, you can order coffee, cake, lunch and snacks, pizzas, pastas and salads. Be sure to drop by to view the moss wall and the rest of the interior, which is made as much as possible from fallen trees.

Zuid-Holland

Zuid-Holland

Where you are in the area Rotterdam should be in the playground area? In Plaswijck Park Naturally! What you can expect there: (water) playgrounds, animals, picnic meadows, pedal boats, a tour boat, raft, play fort, carousel, play attic, various restaurants and so on. Tip: reserve your tickets in advance.

In the Lage Bergse Bos in Bergschenhoek, also known as Rotterdam's backyard, is where children (and enthusiastic parents!) can indulge themselves Playing polder Bergse Vallei. Here you will find, among other things, a crawling route that goes along and through the water (bring your swimwear) and there are boats, climbing trees, a balance course and a walkway. For the little ones there is a water playground next door restaurant Bergsche Plas, where it is nice to relax for the less enthusiastic parents.

The Strange Bird - Vlaardingen

The Strange Bird - Vlaardingen

Another one you should definitely not miss in South Holland is The Strange Bird in Vlaardingen. Whether you come for the nature playground, the petting zoo, the water or the cozy terrace, you will certainly not be bored. Oh yes, you can stay the night in one of ten special sleeping places, such as an airplane, a large birdhouse, a giant ostrich or a gypsy wagon. We wrote about this delicious one before Strange Bird.

Brabant

Brabant

Definitely it too Brabant country not out. Playgrounds galore, like all the fun BillyBird Park Hemelrijk in Volkel, not far from Den Bosch. Here's an awesome water pool included water play paradise, outdoor playgrounds, climbing mountain, lots of attractions and a huge indoor playground. There is something for everyone - and in this case we mean the parents - because while the kids sprint towards the water, the parents can set course for the Beach Bar for an ice-cold drink.

More Brabant

More Brabant

We'll linger for a while Brabant because there is more (much more!). Nearby Tilburg, in the village Oisterwijk to be precise, you will find it in the middle of the woods The Boscafe. While the kids have fun in the playground adjacent to the terrace, the parents enjoy the view and the extensive lunch, drinks and dinner menu. Brabant conviviality through and through.

In Mill shot, between Brabant and Tilburg, you will find Kids Wonderland where there is plenty of entertainment to be found both outside and inside, just like at Play farm Hullie in Uden. Also the (free) playgrounds The Little Quack (Rosmalen) en Sint-Michielsgestel nature playground In our opinion, this should not be missing from the list. Please note that there are no catering or sanitary facilities at the latter playground.

Overijssel

Overijssel

Stays in Overijssel The Flierefluiter in Raalte still a favorite. Here there is an outdoor playground, indoor playground, maze, sandbox, swimming pool and petting zoo. You can order food and drinks in Oma Toos' kitchen, but you are also allowed to bring your own food and drinks. There are terraces both outside and inside with a view of the play equipment. Small side note: the ceiling of the indoor playground is sound-absorbing, nice!

You will find a smaller – but nice – playground there Oldenzaal, at restaurant Little Africa. Here you will find a large terrace, an animal park and a kids' club in addition to the playground.

Friesland

Friesland

The historic estate Park Vijversburg, at a tiny distance from Leeuwarden, is great fun for the kids, but –be prepared– it almost makes you a child again. Endless winding paths and hiding places, new discoveries around every corner. A real water labyrinth (personal favorite), hidden bridges, countless ponds and beautiful works of art. The latter in particular is what makes Park Vijversburg (not to be confused with a forest) so special. Works of art in the form of tree houses, hammocks, climbing towers and designed by big names from, we name it, Japan or even New Zealand. Everything to introduce the offspring to art in a playful way.
