8 x cheese fondue in Amsterdam

You had us ate cheese. If it is a melted golden substance with all kinds of goodies to dip into it, we will of course no longer be able to avoid it. Because oh, how wonderful that is. And it doesn't break the bank either. What are the best places to eat cheese fondue in Amsterdam? Arranges nicely. Yes, below!

Rather talk cheese fondue at home?

It's time...! For cheese fondue, of course. If we have "soul food" in the Netherlands, it has to be cheese fondue! Right? But where do we go for cheese fondue? Tasting room A. van Wees in Amsterdam's Jordaan district. Made with four Dutch cheeses selected by the Men of Cheese, and topped off with a shot of spicy Taainagel grain genever from their own Distillery De Ooievaar in the Jordaan district. The result: an Amsterdam fondue that every cheese lover should try.

Bistrot des Alpes

Bistrot des Alpes

Imagine yourself in the French Alps for an evening. Not only is it a nice setting, it is also delicious food. Local food, with, yes, cheese fondue! They have 'regular' cheese fondue or cheese fondue with porcini mushrooms. Choose with bread and/or vegetables. At the table!

Smelt

Smelt

Smelt is located across from the Kaaskamer in the Nine Streets neighborhood. Joost from the Kaaskamer has chosen the fondues, so you know it's going to be good. At the Nine Streets, you'll find a charming, traditional Dutch pub with a converted bar and a pleasant atmosphere. A small menu with tasty bites and, importantly, excellent wine. Smelt is the place to be.

Cafe Bern

Cafe Bern

Café Bern, who doesn't know him. Nice and central on the Nieuwmarkt and with really good cheese fondue. There are so many types and so many cheese fondues that are just not that tasty (read plastic-like, stomach ache for the rest of the week). That is not the case with Cafe Bern. Here you get cheese fondue as it should be; made from Gruyère. Has been on the map for forty years. Keep it that way, because it's delicious. Still so.

Fondue & Fondue

Fondue & Fondue

It's all in the name, they say. That's what we say too. It certainly applies to Fondue & Fondue. What can you eat there? So fondue. In addition to cheese fondue, they also have fish fondue and meat fondue! Ideal if you are going to eat with non-cheese fondue lovers. Have a nice evening too.

The Carbel

The Carbel

Cheese fondue or Á la carte, it is possible at The Carbel both. But if you give us the choice, we'll go for the cheese fondue 100%. Het Karbeel has been a renowned cheese fondue restaurant since 1977, so they know exactly what they're doing. You can choose from seven different types of cheese fondues here, including their recommended 'Karbeel Cheese Fondue' with Gruyère, Emmentaler and Blue d'Auvergne. Pfff... our mouths are watering already.

AMI - Café Manger

AMI - Café Manger

The always pleasant Pijp is of course bursting with nice bars, cafes and restaurants, but if you are looking for a cheese fondue during the autumn and winter months spot in this area, then you are at AMI at the right address. If you make a reservation, they will keep a spot free inside between the candlelight and the cozy interior. Reserve your table here!

Jansz. Winter Garden

Jansz. Winter Garden

Every Thursday through Sunday you can enjoy cheese fondue in the winter garden of Jansz. Enjoy that warm melting cheese with your favorite side dishes, cozy under a blanket. The cheese fondue is made with cheeses from the Cheese room – already good – and you can choose from the Dutch, Swiss or Italian variant. Oh, and don't forget to order that glass of red wine.

't Blaauwhooft

My goodness, you can enjoy fondue in this immensely cute cafe. No stated intention and that is exactly the whole idea with the cheese fondue concept. Anti-fonduers (yes, they really exist) can also go here for a venison steak or home-made ravioli. By foot it is about fifteen minutes from Amsterdam Central Station.
