Hotel beauty products we love: Amstel Hotel Amsterdam & beauty brand Byredo x Bal d'Afrique
Sometimes you don't even need to stay overnight to fall in love with a hotel. The Amstel Hotel, five stars, on the Amstel, the homely grande dame of Amsterdam since 1867, is the kind of place where you also happily walk in for a drink on the sun-drenched terrace. And then, quite coincidentally, a visit to the restroom here is also highly recommended. For the hotel's smallest rooms are an experience in themselves. Classic, marble, gold mirrors and taps, beautiful wallpaper. You want it. And washing your hands suddenly becomes a little party thanks to the Byredo handwash and lotion available.
Byredo is the Swedish perfume house founded in 2006 by former basketball player Ben Gorham, with the ambition to translate memories and emotions into scents. Bal d'Afrique is one of their best-known: a warm, romantic fragrance inspired by 1920s Paris, blended with African influences. Woody notes, African marigold, and Moroccan cedar create an incredible scent, and that very fragrance is now lingering in your hands after a visit to the Amstel. Incidentally, we can also highly recommend spending a night at the hotel. An added benefit: you will then wash yourself from head to toe in this delicious fragrance. It is a small detail in an otherwise grand hotel, but one that lingers. Literally.
