Peace seekers and foodies on Bonaire? the Bamboo Bonaire Boutique Resort it is!
We would like to be brief about it: as far as we are concerned, the Caribbean island of Bonaire is the ultimate don't think about it, just go holiday island. period. The island is small and manageable, which reduces our FOMO stimuli to a minimum, the weather is always (well, almost always) nice and although you could see the large number of Dutch people as something negative, we find it wonderfully comfortable. that we-know-us chatter in our native language. So yes, we would like to come to Bonaire. And yes, we have our favorite places to stay there. If we travel without the small stuff, there is actually only one hotel resort that comes into consideration: The Bamboo Bonaire Boutique Resort it is! The nicest place on the island for both those seeking peace and quiet foodies on Bonaire. Booking? The best way to do this is via ByJune (everything arranged in one go: flight, accommodation and car).
First of all: There is no room for small kids at the Bamboo Bonaire Boutique Resort. Not because the people behind the resort are child haters: on the contrary! All the friendly ladies (coincidentally they were all ladies) love children and (partly) also have them themselves. And that is precisely why they know how wonderful it is, when you are without it, not to have to hear the screams of someone else's offspring. No, Bamboo Bonaire Boutique Resort is a place for rest. And space. And even more peace. And good food, too, but more about that later.
If you book a room at Bamboo Bonaire, you will not find a 'room' but your own house for a while, all with a private front garden and (amazing!) backyard aka the bathroom. It is outside, yes, and equipped with a plunge pool and double shower, completely shielded from the outside world so that you can shower with your bare buttocks under the clear blue sky and radiant sun, use your toilet, hop around or whatever you would like to do. The strategically placed roofs are smart so that your belongings remain dry if an unexpected downpour occurs. Kudos, and this applies more than once to Bamboo Bonaire.
Kudos also to the compact, but smartly furnished room: wonderful bed, fully equipped kitchen and always a barbecue on the covered wooden deck.
You swing yourself along a winding path through the vegetation (Bamboo is wonderfully intimate, and all the greenery gives the cabins exactly the privacy you want) to the pool. Or up the stairs, if you are the lucky one who has scored the nicest hut in the whole place: the tree house. Be sure to ask when you book, and thank us later. If you do that, stroll along that winding path, you will certainly not miss the restaurant. That is not an option at all because it is - and it is not just us who say this - it is best restaurant on the island: you must reserve at least a month in advance if you want to join us. If you sleep at Bamboo, you might be in luck: the staff often does their best to find an extra table in the small restaurant for guests.
And then you enjoy a sublime dinner for an evening Restaurant chefs, a tiny restaurant within the gates of Bamboo Bonaire Boutique Resort where all guests - a maximum of twelve - sit at the chef's table to sit. That one chef's table is a semi-circular bar that overlooks the small open kitchen. From there, the dishes come your way, including passionate text and explanations. Party, that much is certain, don't go when life gives you Bonaire is actually not an option. Even if you choose (but why would you do that?) o not to stay at Bamboo (ah, maybe because you have small kids, okay, then we understand, but make sure you have an evening babysitter and book with Chefs) . All twelve guests at the chef's table, yes, but if you are lucky and an extra seat is created for you, you could be sitting at a high table. The love doesn't diminish, and the food certainly doesn't either!
Finally, number three in the must-dos on Bonaire (one is booking Bamboo, two is booking Chefs): make sure you end up on the massage table at some point. The people at The Bamboo Bonaire Boutique Resort work together with some incredibly good masseurs: we are still dreaming about it.
