It is undoubtedly one of our favorite cities in Europe. Stockholm is a stylish mix of a fine city life, plenty of nature and beautiful people. You can enjoy a delicious breakfast, a cozy bar or a hip restaurant at any time of the day. You can shop endlessly there, but you can also just sit on a bench and watch the stylish youngsters from Stockholm to watch. This city on the water is worth a visit (or two). Which coffee shops, restaurants and boutique hotels should you visit? And perhaps the most important question of all: where do you get the best buns, kanelbullar and semla for your fika? For those who love green Rosendals Trädgård a must. The island of Djurgården is a city park with many museums. At Rosendals you will find beautiful biodynamic gardens and greenhouses. You can stroll around there to look at flowers or buy plants and other garden supplies. They also have a garden café (Trädgård means garden) where you can get a Swedish fika or have a nice lunch.
If you have been to Stockholm before and are familiar with Rosendals, Ulriksdal Trädgårdcafé is a similar combination place of gardens and good food from a vegetarian buffet.
Sure, very important where you dine and sleep, but no city trip goes by without stopping somewhere for a good bun and coffee. Not? If you do that in Swedish, it is called a fika and you add a kanelbullar, semla or other tasty treat. Well known in Stockholm Manufacture stenugnsbageri. Previously the place for your Swedish dough. So much so that they even have branches in London and New York. If you want to get the best bullar in 2022, you have to go to: Lillebrors Bageri in the Vasastaden district. Or to Ingrids in Norrmalm.
You only know about these kinds of things if you speak to locals and we have them. Our nice local is Sascha who moved from Amsterdam to Stockholm and now all ins & outs know. It is during the day insider tip Learned your place for coffee and 100SEK (about ten euros) vegetarian lunches. Is it wine time? Then Savant is also the place for tasty natural wine. This natural wine bar serves wine by the glass (changing daily), Scandinavian beer and so it is really a place for enthusiasts. This in combination with Swedish snacks and a nice relaxed atmosphere makes it a nice place.
Bar Agrikultur is located in a sweet little building and serves great food. So great that they received a Michelin star for it and a green star for sustainability. At Agrikultur the main part of the menu consists of vegetables and possibly some meat or fish on the side prepared on wood fire. They raise their own pigs that they feed with it food waste from the restaurant. And they ferment, forage and hunt together another part of their ingredients. You eat in a cozy interior high quality food prepared with care for the planet. And that's delicious.
'Ett Hem' means 'a home' and that homely feeling is central to this twelve-room boutique hotel. You can choose whether you want to eat breakfast in the kitchen (like at home), in the library (more chic) or in the greenhouse (with a view of the garden). A home is cozy, quite a bit chic and the type of homely that you can dream about. As a surprise, this residency from 1910 also has a beautiful gym, Swedish sauna and... hot stone plate in the basement. And we really don't have that at home. That's why Ett Hem is a delicious option to pamper yourself for a weekend when you're in Stockholm.
