LODGE & LOFT, Sassenheim

At LODGE & LOFT you have it all: centrally located in the Randstad, Noordwijk around the corner for a day at the beach and right on the water for sailing. But above all a wonderful stay with a sauna, a beautiful interior and a nice garden—well, to do all sorts of things in—sunbathing, breakfast, drinks, playing games. Yes, it checks all the boxes!

This one deserves the spotlight. LODGE & LOFT was founded by Albert and Annemiek, who wanted to create a place where peace and nature come together. And they succeeded so well that in 2023 they will Airbnb Design Award won! Not entirely surprising, because Annemiek is an interior designer, and that is reflected in every detail. We like!

Sitting in the garden with your legs up for an entire weekend? Let's go! But the area is also perfect for an active day out. There are beautiful cycling routes along the coast, through the dunes and between the bulb fields. Oh and mountain bike fans take note: there are various courses in the area. And what is even more fun than cycling? Boating, we think!

Good news, LODGE & LOFT has its own sloop (and supboards). Go on the Kagerplassen or the canals of Leiden yourself. Little or no sailing experience? Or just don't feel like sailing yourself? No problem! The accommodation will arrange a skipper with a picnic basket. Nice, huh!

A good breakfast is also provided. Choose from different packages, such as the classic breakfast, the avocado breakfast, or go for cottage cheese or oatmeal. Choose what you feel like, and your fridge will be well stocked upon arrival. Both rooms have a kitchen and offer cozy places both inside and outside where you can sit down with your breakfast plate. At the end of the day, you can exchange your breakfast plate for a well-filled snack platter - that's a holiday! Cheers.

You have a choice of two rooms: the “Lodge” and the “Loft”. ​​If you choose the Lodge, you get a spacious room and sunny deck terrace. If you choose the Loft, then you will be upstairs in the luxury studio with sunny roof terrace. Whichever you choose, both rooms are tip-top decorated by Annemiek.

And the icing on the cake? Your own private wellness! Including a rain shower, wonderfully soft bathrobe with slippers (which you can take home with you), and of course the private sauna. Completely completed with Rituals shower stuff and care products.

Location, location, location

LODGE & LOFT is located a stone's throw from Noordwijk—okay, a 10-minute drive will take you from Noordwijk to the highway in Sassenheim, and vice versa. It is also easy to get to by public transport. easy easy: get off the train, take the bus, and in five minutes you'll be there. YesSassenheim actually has its own train station – now that's luxury!

Places such as the Oosterduinse Meer (also called Lake Como) and the mountain bike trails in Noordwijkerhout are within a fifteen to half hour bike ride. A five-minute walk will take you to the center of Sassenheim, with places to eat, sunny terraces and shops.

Even though our personal favorite Noordwijk aan Zee, and of course the wonderful beach tents, such as Branding, Tulum en Witsand. Here you will find the nicest beach bars in Noordwijk. Don't forget all the summer parties and Ibiza markets between April and August. Mega fun!

This is of course the one and only bulb region, so plenty of bulb fields to see (and take pictures of), provided it's the right season. From mid-April to mid-May the tulips are in bloom, while the dahlia fields are at their best in August and September. Then there are the flower parades—those colorful processions—if flowers are your thing. Pick them yourself? You can do that at The Tulperij around the corner. Or choose a beautiful bunch of tulips or dahlias as a souvenir to take home. Or visit Passion for Tulips and view/buy/pick the most special tulips you will ever see.

The eye wants something too

Yes, it was not awarded the Best Design Award from Airbnb 2023 for nothing. Have you fallen in love with the interior and do you want to have this at home? Then ask Annemiek for advice. She has her own interior design consultancy.

The rooms have a Mediterranean vibe with large windows, wooden furniture, large plants and a nice mix of industrial and soft materials that give the rooms a homely feeling. Due to the natural light, the rooms are also perfect as daylight studios. You can rent both the rooms and the outdoor space for a photoshoot.

Outside is just as beautiful as inside, in the same relaxing style. In the garden you will find a greenhouse, a pergola, an authentic gate and lots of flowers—completely in style with the bulb region. When the sun shines, it shines in the garden from sunrise to sunset. Exactly what you want: start with a cup of coffee and end with a glass of wine, with your face in the sun.

Keffers and Kroost

Children are certainly welcome, but there is no extra bed available in the rooms. This means that it is really only suitable for kiddos under two years old. For them there is a cot available, but only in the Lodge room. And unfortunately, leave yappers with the babysitter at this gem.
