Boutique hotel in The Netherlands, Haarlem
Sleep over perfection: Metzlr House, Haarlem
We lo-lo-love Haarlem, "little Amsterdam" within cycling distance of the beach. But where to stay in Haarlem? Meh. Aside from a few nice options, the selection was rather limited. A shame, for such a fun and diverse city. Das war einmal! In comes the too nice and beautiful Metzlr House, Right above the ever-expanding Menu Corridor restaurant (read: by far our favorite restaurant in Haarlem for quite some time now). If you last visited a year ago, you'll hardly recognize it: Menu Corridor has at least doubled in size (and is still very beautiful) after the recent renovations. And it's not finished yet: the rooftop terrace will also open in the summer of 2026! Where's the party? In the Dome complex in Haarlem you find Metzlr House, a dream of a hotel with restaurant (Menu Corridor) under the smoke of Amsterdam.
The hundred-year-old National Monument – better known as the Dome "Under Haarlem's mosquitoes"—has been restored to its former glory with the help of historians, craftsmen, and a group of clever architects. And not just any old thing. We're talking about original blueprints from 1899 that have been resurfaced, a dive into archive photos, and a 35-meter domed roof that restores the monument to its characteristic grandeur. Everywhere you look, you see beautiful ironwork, historical details, and refined craftsmanship. And yet, it doesn't feel stuffy at all; rather, it feels stylish, warm, and just right. An address where you can land effortlessly.
Location, location, location
De Koepel, formerly known as the Koepel Prison, which housed convicts and prisoners for decades, is one of those places where everything comes together: architecture, culture, gastronomy, education, entrepreneurship; you name it, and you'll find it. A kind of public living room for Haarlem, but with charm. Meetings? Possible. Dinner? Yes. Just strolling around and soaking up the atmosphere? Even better.
Events & special moments
Need a meeting, a celebration, or simply looking for a location with character? The Koepelcomplex is the perfect place for you: with 1000 m² of co-working space directly beneath the iconic dome, twenty meeting and training rooms, and space for large conferences and events, there's always a space to suit you. Perfect for a meeting, an intimate gathering, or just a moment that deserves a little something extra. Everything feels special here, simply because of the building itself.
The eye wants something too
Far from the hustle and bustle, you'll be right in the heart of Metzlr House. Rooms with high ceilings, modern design, warm colors, and art by local artists—exactly the mix we love. The bathrooms feature a rain shower, luxurious Ajen toiletries, and everything you need for a cozy cocoon. Sleep comfort? A solid ten. Imagine the kind of bed you can sink into and truly recharge (really, really).
Culinary with a capital C
On the ground floor, you'll find Menu Corridor: the kind of restaurant where you'd want to linger all day. Good news, you can. With an impressive wine list and a menu of delicious snacks and changing seasonal dishes, you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, drinks, and dinner here. If we had to describe café-restaurant Menu Corridor in one sentence? Good, atmospheric food in a beautiful restaurant with a sunny terrace in the summer.
Just for you (or the two of you)
Whether you're here to unwind, soak up some culture, or simply enjoy a few days of Haarlem's charm, Metzlr House is a place that charms without frills. A hotel where you step inside and the city bustle leaves you at the door.
Metzlr House isn't your average hotel. It's a charming blend of heritage, character, and comfort. A place that's spot on, from the dome to the pillowcase.
