Affordable art? This is where you need to be and you need to have this!
It is a fact that we love art. It is also a fact that our wallets are not always very happy about it. This led to the search for affordable art. We all want to furnish our house/student room (because even as a student you should be able to enjoy art on those few square meters) with a unique work by a maker you admire. Art adds value to your own place and takes care of it no time for that the interior completely we point is.
The threshold for purchasing art is generally high and that is a shame. We think there should be another way, so we started looking. Affordable art? This is the place to be and you must have this!
First of: Jantien Baas. This maker can be found in The Hague. Baas loves textiles and colors, which is reflected in her work. She does things slightly differently than most makers, first the pattern is made, later the product comes into play. You can find everything on her site: from wrapping paper to bedding, to bags and lifelike fabric swans. Our favorite are the 'En Route' posters. This is a series of twenty A5 size posters. The posters can be purchased separately for ten euros and consist of all cheerful colors. The nice thing about this series is that you can put together your own route and that one or two posters is nice to have hanging at home. This way you can have color in your home for a nice price!
OODE is a combination of works by young Dutch makers and works from closed museums and art institutions. A new concept that ensures that they have a collection of unique products. The latter group is also called “Orphaned Art” called, with the aim of breathing new life into forgotten art. They want to make art accessible to everyone and that results in the prizes. Prices vary, but the selection “Orphaned Art” is interesting if you have a somewhat lower budget and still want to bring art into your home. Here you will find unique products for a great price. This way you can get art for just 25 euros.
Yes, we do like art! For some, the threshold for purchasing art is high, too high, which means that it is ultimately not purchased. It remains a difficult world to access and that had to change, according to its founders We Like Art. The goal is to open up the closed art world and ensure that art becomes more accessible. You can buy works directly on the site and if they are 250 euros or more, you can use the so-called 'KunstKoop'. This allows you to take out a free loan and pay for the artwork in parts. Very useful if you do not want to pay the amount in one go. Also ideal if you want to buy art as a student (just saying).

The program House Of Meaning can be found in Utrecht. It is a studio where different illustrators sit together to join forces. For example, they collect assignments together and organize events where art from the makers from the studio is for sale. In addition to the events, work is also for sale on the site. You can buy nice tickets for as little as ten euros and posters are often for sale starting at 25 euros. Nice as a gift or in a beautiful frame on your wall.
Don't be put off because it's a fair, UNFAIR Amsterdam is an ideal place to buy art from homegrown artists. They create a careful collection of art and makers in the field contemporary art. The maker is central and art is therefore purchased directly from the maker. Buying art takes time and they hope to stimulate the experience. In addition to the fair, they organize various events, so keep an eye out!

Tip of flip! Collect posters you encounter along the way. Think of advertising posters of certain events or shops. After all, these were also made by someone with a creative brain, so they are truly art. And it's free, so you can hang a work of art on your wall for free. Make it a bit fancier by framing it and voilà: you have completely brightened up your room. It can be easy sometimes, right?
