Bijou Plage: chic scenes on the coast in Cannes
France, oui oui. Even more so for the summer of 2021 for all the obvious reasons: this wonderful holiday destination is just around the corner and, oh boy, you don't have to take a plane (tip: take the train once, it's fun). And there's SO much fun in there La douce France... Handsome B&Bs, boutique hotels, the nicest markets and many more. Although this time we are heading to Cannes, and to the fabulous Bijou Plage.
Looking for a nice place to hang out Cannes, on the beach if possible? Then you must – yes you must – go to Bijou Plage. You will receive that immediately upon arrival viva holiday feeling. Yellow and white striped cushions, director's chairs, swimming pools, parasols and more of those kinds of summer scenes where you look, the good way. Summer between four walls actually, rain or shine.
It is also a chic stay on the coast. And not that awkward chic, but more handsome than pretty chic with one beach vibe, exactly what you want, right? Glass of bubbles, face in the sun and secretly looking at all those other people from behind your oversized sunglasses and beyond? Nothing at all.
I shouted it here all: we (Man, Dog, (Baby) and the undersigned) praise de French Cote d'Azur. We haven't wanted to give in to that for years... Going on holiday to France, by car of all things, you only do that if you really have no other option, right? And then only with children or something else… Difficult (okay, like a dog)? No, FranceWe'll do that later. When we grow up... Oh well, maybe we are grown up now, albeit with no offspring, but we fully understand all Francophiles.
The bistro with the name Bobo is open all year round, but let's be honest: you mainly want to sit here when the sun is shining. Then the matching summer ones become formal and casual looks namely even better. The dishes are Mediterranean and that goes damn well with it picture-perfect view of the Lérins Islands and the Esterel massif.
After an extensive lunch, you can roll back onto the beach at Bijou Plage, plop down on a comfortable lounger with a mattress and then linger and nap there all afternoon. At the end of the afternoon you order another cocktail and then you finish everything the next day repeat.
