There it is: a list of Dutch breweries and only the nicest ones (with the tastiest beer)
What makes a brewery good? A no-brainer indeed... Beer. Mainly. Ultimately, a brewer stands or falls with his beers. So let us tell you that that beer is absolutely perfect with the breweries below. And what more could you want? That's right, a nice sitting area or picnic table (inside or outside), an extra asset food menu, great events, a UNESCO heritage location, sitting among the brewing kettles, supporting a good cause... Anyway, you get the idea. So here is a list of breweries in the Netherlands that know how to brew and all have some extras.
Phew, beer, but preferably not the alcohol? Then take a look here. Or one cocktail afternoon?
Once started by four friends in a kitchen, it is Amsterdam Oedipus Brewing Meanwhile, a brewery that you should take into account. They have a strong one year round selection (we know about Men's Love now, right?), seasonal beers and a very nice experimental Studio Oedipus line - plenty of beer, and luckily choice too. They have a lovely terrace at the Badhuis, full of the sun in Amsterdam East or you can visit them taproom in North. Oh, and be sure to keep an eye on the events, a Parties with capital letters. A brewery, storage facility, office and brewpub in one. And with the best citizens in the city, namely van the Beef Chief.
A fresh herring always goes in, right? Yes, but when we talk about the beer Crooked Herring from Utrecht. A lot of beer is brewed with English malts and American hops, so it's kind of the best of both beer worlds. The beers are often experimental (due to the use of wild yeast cultures), but that does not make them any less common. An afternoon of drinks really ends in no time. You can sit comfortably in the brewpub, but a spot on the picnic benches outside is also not a bad idea. And it artwork there is a picture on the labels.
Yeast floats around everywhere and can therefore get into everything. With cultivated yeast you ensure that the yeast is so strong that it loses out to 'wild' yeast. But the nice thing about wild yeast is that it kind of does what it wants and then you're never quite sure what will come out. Can be a taste bomb, but can also be a real bomb where your beer shoots up from your bottle. Exciting man.
A brewery in an old fort and with a campsite – that is a brewery German and Lauret at Fort Everdingen. The entire beer experience doesn't get much more fun and complete. Under the inspiring leadership of brewer Marco Indische, people with a distance to the labor market work there; So this place really has everything: incredibly good beer (the blond is a favorite), a beautiful place (it will soon become part of the UNESCO heritage) and committed people who ensure everything runs smoothly. Place your tent in the back of the car and your holiday at the brewery fort can begin. The beer is already cold, nice.
Another sweet brewery where they give people with a distance to the labor market the opportunity to participate - microbrewery de Prael. You may know the Prael from beers such as Bitterblond (formerly 'Johnny', pronounced Amsterdam style) and it has that Amsterdam feel to it. They all sell local products that are made using traditional methods. Think mustard, chocolate, gin – all tasty treats that you would like to have with your beer. Their brewpub in the Red Light District is best in winter, because when the sun shines, you want to go to their Houthaven location with a sunny terrace.
De Prael now also has brewpubs in The Hague, Utrecht and Groningen.
If there is a brewery in it no time has developed from a novice to a serious brewer with pounders of beers, then it is the Amsterdam Walhalla. As they say themselves, they brew 'the favorite beers of the gods' and the gods are lucky with that. All beers are named after a god (or something god-related) and we are confident that these types of drink offerings will be very well received up there (or below). At least for us, yes. Often lots of tropical fruit, hazy IPAs, but also toppers such as the Sorachi Ace Stout Izanami. The brewpub is simple, sleek and you sit between the kettles. Or relax outside in the sun. Also keep an eye on the live music events, they are great.
It's like some kind of hidden beach oasis Primal soup in Nijmegen at the Honig complex. Huh, beach in Nijmegen? Yes, Oersoep is located on the Waal and there is sand - a beach oasis. The people at Oersoep brew dry, sour, hoppy and funky beers. Some are a bit crazier or more challenging than others (also because of those wild yeasts), but an afternoon with your feet in the sand and tasting beer is well spent for us. Bring on those different-than-usual concoctions. The brewpub is located in the old steam house of the factory and there you can also taste their latest brews with something tasty to eat next door.
De Molen Brewery in Bodegraven is known for its good (and heavy!) beers, striking names such as Vuur&Vlam and Hel&Verdoemenis and among the beergeeks especially for their annual Craft Beer Festival Borefts. There is a lot of experimentation going on here in Bodegraven (every six weeks the folks at De Molen brew a beer that they have never brewed before and will most likely never brew again), so you can be sure that there is always something new on offer. the tap is available – stouts, porters, barley wine, pales, sours, lagers and saison: at De Molen you can go in any direction.
Brewing in pans almost ten years ago, now a brewery with three bars: that's a brewery Davo in Deventer. Furthermore, they do not think that much has changed, because brewing is still done with love and a lot of fun every day. That love also extends to the planet: for every can of White (wh)Ale Migaloo, part of the proceeds goes to solutions for the plastic soup in the sea. Good beer and a good cause, more guilt-free you don't open your beer.
Davo also has a bar in Arnhem and Zwolle.
'Have a nice time in the sun', 'f*ck, the caravan is on fire' and 'Big dick 3 beers' – these are not the most common beer names at Owl Brewing, nor is their artwork on all bottles and cans. We like it, and fortunately the beer is also nice. There is no other option when their IPA Bird of Prey is served at star restaurants such as Librije in Zwolle. In their tasting room in Haarlem they have around thirty beers on tap and nice ones flights of beer, so you can taste a little bit of everything.
Oh yes, jopen. Of course you already know it, but that does not mean that this brewery in Haarlem should be missing from this list. By far the Beautiful Nel IPA is our favorite, but when we are in church (Yes, Jopen brews in a church, so that's reason two that you should go there), we also like to taste all kinds of other goodies and news. You literally sit next to (and above) the brewing kettles, eating and drinking. We prefer to sit outside on the picnic benches, although they get the least sun there. Well, we do that ourselves.
Storage Brewery started in a storage room and hop, that's where the name came from. In the meantime, they brew a very nice and consistent series of beers in their brewery in Purmerend. They also experiment a bit, mainly with barrel-aging, but we are fans because they know how to produce good beer without any strange frills. The true enthusiast knows that that is often the most difficult - brewing without frills - so congratulations to the guys from Berging. Our favorite? The Saison. Cheers, we'll have another one.
The men of the are going completely in the other direction Wrench – they brew beer that they like and not necessarily for the big crowd: high quality and (really) crazy flavors. Not for everyone, but if you are a fan (hello), then you are a fan. Maybe you don't always feel like having one strawberry coconut white chocolate meringue pie pastry sour (yes, we didn't come up with this ourselves) or a motor oil bourbon and mexican vanilla stout. But if you do feel like something crazy and delicious, then the beers from De Moercle are the ones for you. go-to. Only their industrial ones taproom is already worth a visit. Tasting bold bear with it and you will have a really nice afternoon.
Everything is always just a little bit different Butcher's Tears. Sometimes that doesn't work out well, but luckily more often than not you end up with a delicious beer. Just something different, twists on the classic styles so to speak. With a penchant for refining classic techniques, they brew according to their own vision and with a preference for the progressive and unusual. You can drink beers such as Smoke & Mirrors, Green Cap or De Fluiter (personal favorite) at the taproom on Karperweg or Jan van Galenstraat.
