Do you want to make yourself and any children happy? 'Naturally!' you say... Okeokeoke, here's a big (very big) recommendation: book a few more nights Country house on the Veluwe. You most certainly won't regret it! It is, in our humble opinion, the perfect place for a summer in the Netherlands - or for a spring or late summer weekend in nature - literally ON the Hoge Veluwe. Inside, grab and go, an hour from Amsterdam you have already arrived at this dream place. Who what where? Is it coming: Country house on the Veluwe is a forest house designed with a huge sense of style and with great taste that was very popular during the Dutch Design Week of 2017. And no, do not think of a basic wooden hut in the woods but of a trendy and high-quality country house, as the name suggests.

Once inside you will encounter a wonderfully warm, stylish and sleek interior. The kitchen is equally fancy with a cooking island where you can sit and relax at the bar. The bank (that bank!) deserves the honor of being mentioned separately because hello cloud. It is, so to speak, a sofa bed 2.0. No (we'll just mention a name) IKEA (nothing wrong with that) fold-out sofa that keeps you awake with a wooden back. Nope, the opposite. Here in the country house you sit on a sleek, stylish cloud of a sofa that you can transform into a sleeping place for two people. Extra, because there is of course also a beautiful bedroom. Fine!
The master bedroom is located in the corner at the back of the house. It is the only place where a TV can be found, for which we would once again like to compliment the owners. Nice: no noise in the living room (because hey, you're in the middle of nature and you don't have to have the TV on), but you can zap some channels before going to sleep. Next to the master bedroom, a cute staircase leads you upstairs where the space has been transformed into a real kids cave. Not big, but cozy and playful: the little ones can look down through the beds, and of course the offspring find that fantastic, especially in their own room. The kids' bunk beds are also located upstairs: all in all a play and hiding paradise. We like.
The bathroom has an amazing sink with two large, beautiful black buckets. It is precisely these nice details that make the house so cozy. Oh and we shouldn't forget to mention that there is an indoor heater where you can sit wonderfully comfortably when it gets too cold outside. There is even the right dose of romance to be found there on the Veluwe.
Apparently it is wonderful to spend time indoors in the country house in the end it is of course about the place, the environment and nature. And we can tell you that it is also delicious (but you probably already knew that). In front of the house there is a nice family table for outdoor dining and there is also a cozy seating area around the campfire. Telling stories until late in the evening, roasting marshmallows, having drinks until after midnight... Yes please. must have to take with you in your suitcases by the way, those marshmallows! You can buy wood at the reception or in the village. Insider tip: don't forget the production blocks ;-). So to speak, one learns as he goes along.

Dream Park De Zanding

Dream Park De Zanding

Did we already mention that the country house is located on a holiday park? That is true, and at Droompark de Zanding. There is plenty to do in the park itself and something for everyone. If you come with kids, you can breathe a sigh of relief (and celebrate your holiday yourself) because there is much more than enough to do. This means: an (indoor) swimming pool, wellness (open again from July 1), various playgrounds, a lake and an amazing playground that is half in the lake, for all the more water fun. Apart from all the fun in the park, there is also a lot to do in the area, because it is still on the Veluwe. Of course the more touristy things: Het Loo Palace, the Kröller-Müller Museum, the Burgers Zoo and the Julianatoren of course. But we would also like to highlight some other activities. So have a pen and paper at hand, here we go:
With a 5-minute drive you will find the entrance to Otterlo Hoge Veluwe National Park. At the entrance you can immediately grab the well-known white bicycles and ride away. Are you with kids? There is a huge playground close to this entrance. But the hunting lodge is also worth a look. The cycling routes are great fun and the bicycles are equipped with a child seat as standard. Easy as pie.

Further on is De Jachthoeve care farm highly recommended. Check out their social channels and website for current opening hours. Is the fruit picking garden closed due to a limited harvest? Don't worry, homemade apple pie and coffee are served on the terrace. You can always stroll around the garden, which is genuinely fun, and where you will certainly hear something from the lovely staff who are only too happy to share their knowledge about the types of fruit in the garden.
