Say what? Sleeping on an abandoned military airfield
During the Second World War, Twente airport and the surrounding bunker park were heavily guarded by the Germans Air force. The bunker strip is no longer in use, but that one once heavily secured bunkers are still there. From April 23 to the end of the summer holidays Campground Twente transformed into a unique pop-up glamping with tents. And you can probably guess the theme: The Cold War. Okay, that wasn't as fun as this one camp space it most certainly is. An atmospheric evening every evening foodtruck festival, a cozy fire pit and exciting activities. A trip full of adventure with the cool kids. Promise.
Okay, which adventurous kids wouldn't want to sleep on an abandoned military airport? Especially since you are normally not allowed to go there at all. Because in the past, as soon as we heard that something was actually not allowed, we wanted it exactly. Because what could be more fun for the kids than being able to tell their friends that they were there after all? Correct. Nothing at all. You will find the campsite in the middle of nature with several beautiful cycling and walking routes nearby. Is also fun for fathers and mothers. You will find a total of 83 tents on the site. You can choose from four different types of luxury tents (from two to eight people).
In addition to staying overnight, you can also have breakfast and dinner here. Where can you pick this up? At one of the different ones foodtrucks on site. What else. Good, healthy and delicious food all-in. All kinds of activities are organized for young and old, such as a potty game nerf gun, laser game or a Escape room in the hangar. You can look for mines in the sandbox and fun day and night trips with historical stories are organized for the kids. Or join the hunting season and find the escaped soldier.
