Barts best of Capri, Italy
Our beloved Capri has long been a popular holiday destination. Because with all those rustic villas, lemon groves and charming parks, Capri is simply a destination you want to go to. But there are still so many undiscovered places on the beautiful island. You just have to know where to go. Anyway... That's easier said than done and we know that all too well. Hence a list Bart's Best of Capri. You're welcome.
The only way to reach this remote spot in the southeast of the island of Capri is by boat or by following a steep path along the cliff. Since the opening of Fontelina Beach Club in 1949 many stars lounged under the blue and white striped parasols (we mention Bridget Bardot and Sophia Loren…). And yet it is far from pretentious. Like only the really rich can do that, so to speak. Italians in tiny speedos dive down Capri's famous limestone formations and then sit down for vongole and lobster linguine while charismatic waiters continue to carry pitchers of white wine sangria with bits of peach. The club and restaurant have survived countless stormy seas over the years but it is still owned by the same two families and will no doubt last for many, many seasons to come. There is perhaps no better place in Italy to enjoy a long lunch by the sea between swims and spritzers.
We kick off with the Carthusia Suites. You will find the charming apartments in the bustling heart of the island, but in a somewhat quieter spot. And we like that. Because nothing is better than completely relaxing by enjoying the peace and quiet. The apartments are within walking distance of the world-famous 'Piazetta' and their own perfume laboratory. We hear you thinking, own perfume laboratory? Legend has it that the Head of Charterhouse Monastery found the ancient perfume formula and showed it to a chemist with the Pope's permission. And so the smallest perfume laboratory in the world was founded.
And… The apartments are named and inspired by their Carthusia scents. How fun and delicious! The apartments are ideal for the holidaymaker who is looking for the space and comfort of an apartment, while still having the feeling that you are staying in a hotel.

Here you imagine yourself in a sweet restaurant among the lemon trees. It was exactly under those same trees that owner Paolino opened his simple and small restaurant. The first customers were all lifelong friends. Older men stopped here along the way to enjoy traditional cuisine before heading out again lawn bowling to play. It soon became Paolinos a household name among locals (and among us, ha!) and that with a menu that you can't resist. Everything prepared with fresh ingredients. For example, the fish served is caught only a few hours in advance by the fishermen Big Navy.

Those who love luxury have come to the right place. Tiberius Palace is very stylish en chic equipped. You will find the hotel a stone's throw from the “Piazzetta" Carthusia suites and the trendy boutiques of Chambers street in the center of Capri. You will be taken care of here, while you lie with your buttocks by the pool. Promise. Tip of the veil: the luxurious Tiberio spa. Oh and the restaurant is too very well.

Hotel Syrene is located close to a central square in the heart of Capri. And maybe you guessed it already… The hotel has a serene atmosphere, ha! It's not called Hotel Syrene for nothing, right? You understand. In the shade of the garden you can taste the delicacies of Capri that the chef prepares for you. The menu consists of a combination of traditional and modern dishes. Oh and don't forget: there's a massage corner. We can't wait to try!

Boutique hotel La Minerva radiates Italian warmth and is located in the heart of the city center in a picturesque spot. The beautiful Augustus Gardens, with their breathtaking views over Via Krupp, are a few minutes' walk away. The owners give you the best to the en outs to explore Capri. The hotel has been recently renovated and... chic jacket, but you can still see the classic elements of the prevailing culture: floors with hand-painted Majolica-tiles, ceramics and of course the overwhelmingly beautiful arches. And (also) that view of the sea is mouth-watering. So incredibly beautiful. You really get it here home-far-away-from-home feeling. Promise.

On the spectacular Punta Tragara, with views of the rocks, you will find Hotel Punta Tragara. The nice thing about this hotel is that the owners really do their best to make it feel like your second home. Previously, the hotel was a villa belonging to the grandparents of the current owners, who later transformed it into the hotel it still is today. Due to its location you can literally see the entire island from the terrace, while enjoying a glass of wine and a tasty lunch. A real one hideaway.

One of our favorite things to do on holiday, if we can get our butts in the sand, is to drink glass sangria in hand and a good book. This will get us through the next few hours. Bee Fontalina Beach Club you can laze on a beach chair before taking a dip in the cooling water. And how about the delicious dishes from the sea on your plate. Sounds like music to our ears.
Da Luigi ai Faraglioni is one of the most exclusive beach clubs on Capri. If you want a taste of the glamorous and magical atmosphere of the island, this is it the place to be. Swim in the clear turquoise water and taste the island's fresh fish and seafood. You can't ask for more. Promise.

Located in the second and smaller municipality on the island, Anacapri (less touristy, higher situated, just as beautiful and therefore highly recommended!), The Rondinella hidden behind a kind of veranda of purple flowers, always fresh fish and pasta and peace zucchini flowers with Ricotta that must be tasted.
