Hotel Casa Monti Roma, a fantastic hotel in the heart of Rome
Before you start complaining that some things are incredibly unaffordable... That's right, cheap is Hotel Casa Monti Roma At 600 euros per room per night, not necessarily, but 1) one can dream and have some desires, and 2) we like to advocate for a budget hotel for a few nights and a splurge. Do the latter at the beginning of your trip instead of the end: a good start really is half the battle, and you certainly won't be ruined for the rest of your trip: you'll start the rest of your (budget) vacation feeling incredibly satisfied, rested (and okay, a bit spoiled), and inspired. So much for our plea for The Insanely Luxurious Inspiring Hotel, because that is Hotel Casa Monti Roma.
In the Monti district, Rome's oldest, the five-star Casa Monti Roma hotel has opened. It stands out from the crowd of classic Roman establishments thanks to its stunning artistic and colorful aesthetic, thanks in part to the work of La Maison Pierre Frey, who sourced the (did we already say "amazing") fabrics. So beautiful, so creative, so colorful. And it's certainly not just the aesthetics: the hotel is widely acclaimed for its excellent service. They call that value for money.
The hotel is located in an 18th-century building on Via Panisperna and is part of the Leitmotiv group (search for it).

Well, we think it's a wildly attractive hotel. And we're not the only ones who love the interior, designed by Laura Gonzalez. She took—no surprise, but still—the concept of an artist's residence as her starting point: none of the 26 rooms and 10 suites are identical, and all the spaces are rich with color and pattern, with handmade linocuts that mimic traditional mosaics, wallpaper with hand-drawn details, and furniture with vintage influences.
Local makers contributed to the interior and the bathrooms feature products from Swiss brand Susanne Kaufmann (which we, again, love!).
Chef Umberto Tuccio heads the kitchen of the hotel restaurant, where the menu features primarily authentic Roman dishes: zucchini blossom in summer, puntarelle lettuce in spring. The pecorino cheese is sourced from local suppliers. There are two bars: on the ground floor, a bar with an adjoining patio is a great place for lunch and drinks from 10:00 AM. The rooftop bar opens at 5:00 PM and offers views over the rooftops of Rome – nom. Both bars serve until midnight.
On the fifth floor is the Susanne Kaufmann spa, which, despite its Swiss products, is particularly striking for its Roman design elements. There are three treatment rooms, all with amber lighting and warm yellow tones. The terrace features a marble jacuzzi surrounded by wallpaper designed by local artists.
Where's the party? In the Monti district, between the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain, an eight-minute walk from the Quirinal and less than a kilometer from Piazza Venezia. Ha! Nothing but narrow streets, authentic shops, and small restaurants – exactly what we want, and where we want our hotel. The hotel is a fifteen-minute walk from Termini Station. Oh, and pets are welcome!
