A winter sports holiday - but also in the summer months - to Morzine-Avoriaz is highly recommended. The area is larger than you can ski or snowboard in, the slopes are for all levels and the villages are a pleasant place to stay. Need a place to sleep? Check out the AliKats chalets. While we slept in the new-build Chalet Alpaga One, we learned about the beautiful concept of this landlord. The chalets are all tip-top in terms of interior and amenities. Chalet Debussy is a 200 year old farmhouse for 8-15 people, Riviere and Alpaga are new chalets in old style and Lumina has a jawbreaking view. Wood stoves, outdoor hot tubs and saunas available. And the option to have us cook “at home” for you all week. If that isn't a treat.

The car journey to Morzine takes 10-12 hours without stops and our train journey (partly with the Thalys) from door to door was 11 hours. Not crazy, right?

Sustainability

De sustainable efforts of AliKats are so good that they deserve their own cup. The aim is to become completely carbon neutral and they are well on their way. The chalets are almost all equipped with a heat pump and green energy (an emission reduction of 40-50%), the waste is collected and CO2 compensated, there is a private permaculture vegetable garden for the chalets and food waste has been reduced to zero using bokashi compost and feed for the chickens. The majority of CO2 emissions come from transport and that is why customers are motivated - through a discount - to come to Morzine by train and experience the hot tub not to be turned on. The awareness The fact that the CO2 emissions of your holiday are reduced by 90% if you come by train is worth considering, isn't it?
