(Un)forced trend: The Intimate Wedding with tips to make it Corona-proof
Sometimes we think that maybe we all felt this pandemic coming... Because hadn't we already started a new trend before March 2020? Of course: The trend of an Intimate Wedding. Which, with some adjustments, can also take place in these strange times. We have seen how this was increasingly requested, even before Corona. And we noticed how warm, sincere and special weddings become of it. Back to the essence, back to love, and back to connection.
We were already planning more and more for Corona weddings without a party, and with a delicious long dinner. For example, the vows are said afterwards, some even by moonlight. Or spend an entire weekend with a select group; I was right away fan of these trends where intimacy is central. Now, since Corona, the government has asked us to celebrate a wedding with only 50 or even only 30 people. And we are forced to plan according to the trend of an intimate wedding. And yes, the number of guests fits in with that trend. But how intimate is a wedding where you have to keep your distance from each other?
To be honest, I really resisted that in the first few months. Create a wedding is about intimacy, being able to touch each other and all being close to each other. But as time went on, and we even got used to keeping our distance, the first Corona-proof weddings also occurred. And it is possible. Intimacy at a distance.
Forget the old normal and see what is possible. Forget standing on the dance floor, but imagine a spacious table where you can dine all evening long. Forget being able to hug everyone, but try to imagine how nice it is to see each other and receive nice words. When we brainstorm with a bridal couple about their day, we mainly look at a total experience and how we can make it as strong and personal as possible. And if you start thinking about what is possible with that thought, you will give this intimate group and especially yourself such a wonderful memory! And as soon as we encounter a bump in the organization of a wedding, the way you deal with that bump will make or break your wedding. I always like to make an extreme choice and go for it, instead of a half-choice where it just doesn't work out.
Can't you party or have drinks while standing? So don't try to do it halfway. Because that is what we have learned in recent months; that doesn't work and is not Corona-proof. That all sounds nice; but does it work?'
- Choose a location where there is sufficient space, especially indoors.
- Inform guests in advance what the day will look like and what they can expect.
- Embrace the small number of guests and enjoy the fact that you will be celebrating your love with an intimate group.
- Realize that with fewer guests you will have more budget for other things;
- For example, for entertainment between courses, as a surprise for your guests.
- Or to have the table styled fantastically so that the extra space is not perceived as cold.
- Say your vows to each other after dinner, a beautiful end to your day.
- Please realize that Corona is not over yet and that this does not have to stop you from getting married.
