Indian summer at WIESERGUT: hiking, swimming and eating from your own land

At design hotel WIESERGUT In Saalbach-Hinterglemm, you can enjoy peace and nature in the summer – perfect for those who love hiking and the ultimate feeling of being free from obligations. Everything here exudes nature: pine wood in the hall, the ticking of a fountain, and the fresh mountain breeze as you step outside. In Salzburgerland, owners Martina and Sepp have created WIESERGUT, a place where everything is perfect without being conspicuous: rooms with linen and lead, food from their own farm, and a bathhouse with spring water. In summer, you can walk to the Wieseralm at 1.500 meters in an hour, or you can grab an e-bike and then dive into the outdoor pool. Hiking, spa visits, delicious organic food, and having nothing to do. We're all for it.

We previously wrote about our experience at the hotel in winterBut WIESERGUT isn't just a magical place to curl up after a long ski trip in winter. There's plenty to experience here in summer too. For years, owners Martina and Sepp have been doing everything themselves, with meticulous attention to detail. The rooms are simply beautiful: linen, soft colors, and handmade designer touches. Some even have a small private sauna in the garden. Wonderful to relax in after a long hike in the mountains. Or flop on a lounger with a book and listen to nothing but the birdsong and the sound of the wind. The garden offers such tranquility, with the Feuering fire in the center, where summer evenings are especially romantic by the fire with a cozy aperitif.

Nearby is their new "Mountain Escape," a separate loft next to the hotel with three bedrooms. It features a long, heated swimming pool (fifteen meters), a small fitness center, and a sauna with views of the valley. Perfect for (mixed) families who want a mountain holiday together, with a touch of extra comfort.

They cook primarily with ingredients they grow and raise themselves: milk, eggs, meat from their own farm, and vegetables and fruit from their garden. What they don't have, they source from neighbors in the area. Honest and simple food, in other words. If you're interested, you can walk to their mountain hut higher up in about an hour. You can also take an e-bike, which you can borrow at reception. Perfect for a day trip in the summer mountains. And the Berggym is available to all hotel guests, where you can do reformer Pilates or fine-tune your workout program with a personal trainer. You'll return home feeling completely fit.

For relaxation, there's the BadHaus. Indoor and outdoor spring water pools. A pinewood sauna. A steam bath. And a cup of tea by the fireplace. On the roof, there's a small private area with a sauna and a bath under the stars.
