The perfect French pit stop (where you won't want to leave, or need to): La Vallée des Elements, Chiddes, France
You know how it is: you want to go to the south of France during the summer months, but in one go, by car, all the way to the south of France... That may be a bit much. So you really want nice transit addresses that are preferably not just good for transit, but a destination in itself. It is exactly such a perfect address, and also very close to the route The Valley of the Elements in the small village of Chiddes between Paris and Lyon (a bit closer to Lyon). La Vallée des Elements, run by Dutch people (which is just very relaxed), is a perfect no fuzz pit stop and destination on its own. There are nice bedrooms, there is a lovely swimming pool, and another one just looks lovely three French out. O! And the breakfast? That's something to write home about.

At the end of a dead-end road in Burgundy you will find The Valley of the Elements, a farm that is more than 100 years old. Sounds idyllic, and it is. The farm is located in the Morvan, a large nature reserve with lots of forest and water. If you want to cycle, swim or do water sports, you have come to the right place. In addition, La Vallée des Elements has a huge garden with a playground (and chickens!). On colder days you can go to the heated swimming pool or the hot tub. You sleep in a French gite which is fully equipped. There is a luxurious kitchen, a wood-burning stove and a private terrace. Not only a wonderful place for a pit stop, but also to enjoy a full week's holiday.
