Fair Fashion: the coolest sustainable clothing from the Netherlands

And so we start the list with the cool Be Kind. Fun for the kids (yes matching time we go), but recently also fun for adults with the new line Abundance. So you've come to the right place at Be Kind (and it won't cost you the world, which is nice). Every item is made from sustainable fabrics, without vague green terms, but truly conscious choices with a clear explanation and an ethically responsible manufacturing process. 'A minimalist collection with items that you can enjoy endlessly'. You will find quite neutral tones (as well as some cool prints), so combining with the rest of your wardrobe is endless. Be Kind is a clothing brand founded by two mothers, Dorien and Hendrine, who want to contribute to the transformation of one of the most polluting industries in the world; the clothing industry. Creating awareness step by step and leaving a cleaner world for the kids. Don't buy, buy, buy but timeless items of good quality, made to last many rounds (what more could you want?).
One half is Dutch and the other Australian. Together Cylia and Aliska create the Palaver brand from Amsterdam. When the two made a switch from the corporate world to setting up a conscious fashion brand, they discovered that there is a lot of choice when it comes to making responsible clothing. Palaver makes slow fashion from natural materials such as cotton and linen in ethical workshops in Europe. The jumpsuit is now iconic, the wrap blouse a must have and a long wrap dress that you never want to take off. While 80% of the items are seasonless - so you can wear them for years - they also have some typical summer and winter pieces, such as a timeless wool coat and linen, more spring/summer pants. Made to order in Amsterdam, that is what Atelier Félie does. The friendly team of 6 makers and a designer create the sweetest dresses, tops and trousers from a studio in our capital. The items are made of sustainable linen or deadstock fabrics and the dresses are only made after ordering. This way the impact and surplus on the environment is as small as possible. Félie continues to surprise us with new models. And it is so nice to be able to put together your dress all by yourself; long or short sleeves, with or without ruffle and in the color and fabric of your choice. With all that beauty, choosing is still quite something. But you will shine in your Atelier Félie outfit.
Caes is a little more high end and so beautiful in terms of fabric choice and designs. The brand was started in 2019 with the idea that clothing should not go “out of fashion”. Timeless models made from eco-responsible and long-lasting fabrics. In the case of Caes, classic tops, trousers and dresses rolled out. Everything in black, white and ivory. Colors that are and always will be good. Although the price is a bit higher than the other brands, the choice of materials is also appropriate. Recycled cotton, ecological wool and alpaca, vegan leather. And all items that you will still have in your closet in ten years' time. So go for it!
