Owners of Roest open Bombarie Amsterdam
We are not yet sure who Arie V. is, but it seems that this Arie V. is the mascot of the new Bombarie at Amsterdam's Rietlandpark on the Oostelijke Handelskade. What makes it really nice is that the owners of Amsterdam Rust - you know, the wonderful city beach that will soon no longer be allowed city beaches of the municipality (booh) in Amsterdam East - behind the opening of Bombardy Amsterdam to sit. That can only go well, right?
The best thing about new Amsterdam catering establishments? When they move into a location that you had no idea about. The people of Roest already did this at the time with their surprising address behind the office of the Telegraaf group, and now they have once again found a great postal code for Bombarie - together with two new partners: the Disinfection Building on the Oostelijke Handelskade, a a few doors down from the (beautiful) Lloyd Hotel, Panama and HappyHappyJoyJoy Oost. Didn't you know that there were even more semi-vacant buildings there that are perfect for some of the better young catering industry? Is so.
For years, the Decontamination Building was successively a quarantine building, squat, breeding ground and art café. And from Friday, July 13, Bombarie's home. Bombarie Amsterdam is a cafe, restaurant and cocktail bar, open daily for lunch, dinner and drinks.
And Arie V.? Still no idea.
Bombarie does say that they will work on a base of accessible dishes for their menu. Not predictable, but recognizable. A toasted sandwich with mozzarella, pesto and tomato for only 5 euros – a classic but done a little differently. The menu changes seasonally based on local products, because how could you do otherwise in 2018. Healthy, not a bracket of five. And – again: how could it be otherwise – the majority of the menu is either vegetarian or vegan. There is even a 'vegan for a day' menu. Smart. Nice. And certainly very tasty too. We shall see.
Although the bar is just as important! Cocktails it is: here too the always good classics with an Amsterdam accent supplemented with creative self-invented slightly freaky shakes.
As mentioned above, the building once housed artists. That vibe is maintained: there are changing exhibitions every month and the contents of Bombarie have also been created with an artistic touch.
The opening is on July 13 and rapper, artist and neighbor Def P. will kick off the party. Bombarie will then be open seven days a week for lunch, dinner, drinks and cocktails.
