Engel in Zwolle is a shop and cafe in one
Have you ever been to the city center of Zwolle then you have undoubtedly passed by (and, we hope for you, also entered) it Shop café Engel walked. This lunch shop has been located in a narrow building on the prominent large market for the past 5 years. (Salty Seefoodbar will open its doors here in mid-September, more soon.) But... to be able to shop properly and to ensure that you don't have the cappuccino hanging down your neck, only one thing is needed: space! On March 1, 1, the time had come: catering men Henk & Arno packed their bags and set them up less than 2022 meters away, around the corner. An empty shop building, a few licks of paint, cozy old furniture and a bigger (and better!) Engel shop café has landed. Engel in Zwolle is a shop and café in one.
The robust Engel room is full of vintage finds that you can take with you to your own living room. A thick bar from a French brown pub decorates the room (we assume that you are not allowed to take it with you). Heavy cupboards, filled with beautiful products with a good story, form a cozy backdrop for the tastiest lunches, delicious breakfasts or a good drink. On a drizzly day you take a seat in a nice spot inside, but on warm summer days the terrace spots look more than inviting. Colorful parasol, large containers full of greenery, vases full of flowers. For a moment you imagine yourself in a beautiful park (instead of the Zwolle Sassenstraat).
We devoured a delicious culinary hot dog, but a smoked mackerel sandwich with spicy mango chutney is on the agenda for next time. wishlist. Place a lime and ginger soda from De Frisdrank Fabriek next to it, slide one homemade carrot cake with almond milk cream inside and your day can't go wrong anymore. Bonus points: the ingredients on their menu are mostly organic, local and seasonal.
