Discover Greece: where you want and need to be

So, Greece. Say "sun, sea, ouzo" and you're practically there. But the country is much more than that; think rugged mountains, monasteries tucked high in the hills, endless beaches, and cities where antiquity is everywhere. The Islands: Classics you shouldn't miss

Let's be honest, a trip to Greece isn't complete without at least one island. And yes, we know: choosing is impossible. But good news, we've already compiled a shortlist of islands you simply can't miss.

Start at SantoriniTouristy? Absolutely. Crowded? Definitely. But as soon as you see the sun slowly sinking into the sea, with the white houses and blue domes in the background, you forget about the crowds for a moment. It's definitely something you have to experience.

After that there is Mykonos, the island of charming streets where every corner is Insta-worthy. Here you'll find beach clubs where an Aperol naturally appears in your hand and a nightlife that completely reverses your day-night rhythm.

For those who want more than beach and sun, there is CreteGreece's largest island is a country in itself: mountains, deep gorges, sandy beaches, and always a taverna where the table is filled with mezedes (a kind of Greek version of tapas) before you've even ordered.

Rhodes It feels like a time machine. The medieval streets of Rhodes Town are a dream for culture seekers, while the coastline is perfect for endless beach days under the blazing Greek sun.

And then there is ZakynthosHere lies Navagio Beach, better known as Shipwreck Beach, perhaps the most photographed bay in the entire country. But the island has more to offer: secluded coves, water so blue you need sunglasses, and a good chance of spotting a sea turtle.

Cities where antiquity is still alive

In Athens New Year's Eve goes hand in hand. The Acropolis is a must-see, of course, but strolling through the surrounding neighborhoods is just as enjoyable. From bougainvillea-filled alleys to bars where you can easily hang out until late.

Thessaloniki It's young, vibrant, and always on the move. Between the churches and old squares, you'll find markets brimming with delicious treats and cafés that are always packed.

And then NafplioSmall, charming, and photogenic. Pastel-colored facades, forts with sea views, and lovely terraces for drinks.

Greek nature

You don't have to look far to be impressed by the nature in Greece. Meteora You'll find gigantic rocks high in the sky. On top of all these rocks are ancient monasteries.

In Crete awaits the Samaria Gorge, a seriously challenging hike. But trust us, the views along the way are so spectacular that those burning calves won't really matter.

And then Pelion, perhaps the best hidden gems Greece. Green mountains, small villages, and beautiful beaches. These are the perfect spots for anyone who wants to exchange the hustle and bustle of Greece for peace and nature.

Greek cuisine

Greek cuisine is, of course, pure enjoyment. Think moussaka, souvlaki, fresh fish straight from the sea, and of course feta in all shapes and sizes, or the classic: Greek salad. Everything comes with olive oil, bread, and often something extra you didn't order (but which will make you very happy). Don't forget the local wines or ouzo, and finish your meal with something sweet: Baklava. of loukoumades with honey.

Why and when?

Why choose Greece (if you're not convinced yet)? Because it has it all! Beach days on white beaches with crystal-clear waters, culture, hikes through rugged landscapes, and tables laden with mezze. Greece never bores. Good to know: the best time to travel is from May to October, with spring and autumn being the favorites for those who also want to do something active. Take the ferry for island hopping, rent a car for freedom, and pack light outfits and a sweater (just in case).
