Bring the sun into your home with Naïf by Barts Boekje

The (summer) holidays may have been postponed for a while, but that does not mean that the sun will not show itself! Good thing, too. Spring is just around the corner, summer time has started and the Dutch sun is shining cheerfully, more and more often and for longer and longer. That means, more than ever - because the first bright rays of sunlight on white winter skin are the most treacherous for young and old: apply, apply, apply (also, or especially, when you are drinking wine, wine, wine).

Let Naif Care have a series of fantastic products for that. Sunscreen, yes, a second round for the brand because it wasn't quite what you wanted the first time. Not that the previous sunscreen worked, but it didn't apply very well and left a white cast. But that was the past and we shouldn't drag old cows out of the ditch. No, we would rather celebrate the fact that it is now a great product. And to celebrate that, we (eventually) share here 12 tips for going out into the sun with your little one(s), nice and close to home. Have fun!

Barbecue season!

Barbecue season!

We are not going to South Africa right now, but we dream about the land of the braai and decide that the barbecue season has just started here too. A little bit of sun? Out onto the balcony, into the garden or simply take up a piece of the sidewalk for a pleasant mini holiday at home. Let's ignore the sweet ideas from neighbors and friends for a moment (or we'll throw everyone on Facetime) and start grilling! The little stuff, oiled of course, can even work with the wooden ones play barbecue from Lidl. The set comes complete with grilled vegetables, sausages and even sauces to top it all off. We already draw the little one in swimming trunks, shiny from sunscreen and in a children's apron from Dille & Kamille. Sweep us up.

Washing hands = lubricating hands.

Washing hands = lubricating hands.

Quite tough, washing your hands about twenty times a day and preferably for eight minutes on the advice of the RIVM. Not because it takes effort, but no, our kids still enjoy all that splashing around. No, it is disastrous for young and older hands, all that water and all that soap. Good to know: Naïfs natural sunscreen is for the whole family because if we can care for the skin of even the youngest, we can do the same for you.

That is why Naif put together a Family Pack with the finest sunscreen products. Because care is important now more than ever. You order the Family Pack here.

Sow now, reap later

Sow now, reap later

Anyone who has a garden can have fun, but did you know that you only need a small strip of outdoor space to plant your own seeds? That is more than exciting, and with a little patience you will soon be able to harvest your own vegetables and pick your own flowers. Be careful: many seeds still find it too cold outside, but planting in a (small) greenhouse is of course very possible! Bee intra-garden you can buy different greenhouses in all sizes at a very affordable price, as well as seeds for strawberries, endive, eggplant, cauliflower, cucumber, peppers, leeks, radishes, lettuce and tomatoes – all delicious items that you can now (March/April) sow under glass. Would you rather sow them in the open ground? Then you have to be patient until the end of April. You can now sow broad beans, peas, spinach, onions and carrots in the open ground. Be careful: carrying soil, shovels and a real greenhouse is hard work, so in addition to your little one's face, don't forget to apply sunscreen to your little one's arms and legs: that coat will come off in no time.

Bear hunt!

Bear hunt!

Have you seen them yet? For the past few days you have been spotting teddy bears everywhere in the country, behind windows, in trees and just in a planter! Big bears, little bears, soft bears, old bears and just very sweet bears. It is a scavenger hunt throughout the country that everyone can participate in, based on the picture book 'We're going on a bear hunt' from 1995 by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury. The bear hunt emerged in Australia and Great Britain to distract children from the corona crisis. And now also in the Netherlands. Go, put on your coat, put sunscreen on your nose and start exploring. Participate? It is best if you stick to the rules: place a cuddly toy in front of the window and indicate your bear on the special 'bear card' so that the Netherlands is slowly turning bear brown!

Mama for Mini, the most beautiful photos of your kids, taken with your phone

Mama for Mini, the most beautiful photos of your kids, taken with your phone

Now that you are together 24/7, this period is the perfect time to delve into how all those Insta-moms create those picture perfect pictures of their children. No, you don't have to invest in an expensive (complicated) camera: photographer Marilyn Bartman launched an online course especially for moms and dads who want to take beautiful pictures of their minis. You follow the course via a private Instagram platform (also very handy) and you don't need anything more than your phone and your kids. And let yourself have it at home. A tip from the shutter: the sun is one of the most important factors for a beautiful atmospheric photo. So first grease them well, and then put them in the light, on the balcony, in front of or behind the window - you didn't know there were so many differences in light. The tips from Marilyn, and its photo editing presets, do the rest.

Staying at home is good for the imagination. Build huts under the table, make a race track from old toilet rolls and – the best part – water games! We move the latter to the balcony or the garden where, if the sun cooperates a little, they can play a game. Without mom or dad having to spend half the day mopping. Please apply sunscreen from A to Z: once applied, your child is protected for +/- two hours with factor 50. Don't forget: Apply sunscreen even in the shade! You don't have to be afraid of water: the Naif Care Baby + Kids sunscreen is water-repellent. We ourselves are quite fond of the nice 'ocean' Plan Toys. The water play set consists of a rubber tray, various figures, fish and a boat. All in the sweet style we are used to from the sustainable toy brand. We bought ours (at a discount) at Dille & Kamille. Splashed out? Then the water can go to the plants and you can easily store the whole thing.
