South Africa's Jeffrey's Bay – this is where you want to be

We continue to cheer about our beloved South Africa, where nature is indescribably beautiful, the people are friendlier than friendly and where the catering industry is ahead of the rest of the world for the simple reason that the South African operators simply do what is right. feels. And keep that up. Averse to trends and such. This is also the case in Jeffrey's Bay, South Africa, where you (even) want to be. Promise.

Pay attention, there is a small chance that you will say no to the following: beach and sea 20 meters away (if you stretch your toes from your bed you can almost feel the sea), a view over the vast South African beach ( so wide and beautiful) and the much-praised super waves of the ocean 24/7, a wooden house with bath and a house with five beds: family, friends, everyone is invited! And all for the starting price of (yes: not) 79 euros per night. Bargain, right? You can do the cooking yourself (the supermarket is within walking distance, rarely the case in South Africa, which is nice!) and make sure you sit down another evening at one of the many really nice catering establishments, also within walking distance. One night on this one dream place is really too little.

Nina's real food

Nina's real food

Catering establishments you say? What then? Well this one, Nina's Real Food for example. Admittedly: after stepping over the threshold we also scratched our heads for a moment. Big. American… Hmmzz. But once settled, it turned out that these prejudices were quickly swept aside: Nina's is 1) very cozy, and has a 2) delicious menu. You can go there for both a healthy bite and a slightly fatty one, and that is exactly the combination we were (always) looking for!
For lunch you can order delicious pita falafels or grilled pumpkin salad. And an ordinary but very tasty burger, too. Enjoy. You can have breakfast with a good (!) cappuccino and, for example, a great toast with egg, salmon and avocado. Or a huge plate of French toast with banana and more. Nom, but real. Oh, and there are fruity smoothies and healthy juices too.

Salt Surf School

Salt Surf School

In the book Cool Cape Town we describe Cape Town and the surrounding area as the 'new Bali'. because of the outdoors, the trendy tents and because you can surf incredibly well in Cape Town. For the latter you can definitely go to Jeffrey's Bay. At Salt Surf School you can get a nice private surf lesson (for a 1,5 hour lesson you pay 35 euros, not crazy in our opinion). If you have to prepare mentally, grab a cup of coffee, because they are good and you can sit comfortably. The same cup of coffee afterwards to recover and you have a great morning. The surf school is on the main road and cannot be missed. You can walk into the water within 2 minutes. Without hassle. Alleluia.

Infood bakery

Infood bakery

Sorry, but can it be better than at Infood Bakery? So almost not. The owner has catered for Prince Harry (Megan's), among others, to immediately do some name dropping. And Harry knows what's tasty. But Miss Infood returned to her beloved Africa and opened this delicious shop in Jeffrey's Bay. Great for everyone who visits Jeffrey's Bay. Go for an it home made bread or a tasty pastry for coffee. The coffee they mix themselves, by the way (under the name Coffee Society). Be alert: Infood Bakery is closed on Sundays. Check the instagram for enviable images.
