Boutique Hotel Casona Los Cedros in Yucatan, Mexico

If you go to Mexico, you go to Yucatan. One of the most famous regions in the country and not without reason. The Riviera Maya is especially popular because of its beautiful nature, bountybeaches and Mayan ruins, but has much more to offer. In addition to the beautiful surroundings, you will also find more and more hotspots that are definitely worth a visit, such as boutique hotel Casona Los Cedros. It used to be a family home, later a canteen and then it stood empty for 30 years before it came into the hands of the French architect Laura Lecúe and her partner Alan Montfort. After a rigorous renovation, the hotel opened its doors in 2020 and believe us: this is where you want to be.

Boutique Hotel Casona Los Cedros has 8 rooms with a private terrace. For those who want even more luxury, there is a suite with private pool. The rooms are spread over 2 buildings bordering the tropical garden. On the roof terrace you can take yoga classes and enjoy a massage. The hotel is located in Espita, a village in the east of Yucatán, a 2-hour drive from Cancún and Mérida. Although it is a small village, it is the perfect base for exploring the area. Recommendations? In the village itself you can stroll around and admire the colonial architecture. Also skip the local market and take a ride in the tricitaxi not about. Ready for a little more excitement? Then visit Valladolid or the Ek' Balam ruins.

Authenticity is important to the owners of the hotel, so they wanted to create a concept that clearly shows this. And that certainly worked. During the renovation there was intensive collaboration with locals. The materials used come from the area and the lamps, doors and furniture were also made in Espita. The concrete base is not only practical (because nice and cool), but also provides a modern minimalist look, so a win-win. The same concept applies to the restaurant: we cook with pure ingredients from the region and vegetables from our own garden. The open covered restaurant is located in the same garden and is adjacent to the swimming pool. Perfect for taking a dip after dinner.
