Hotel Le Jardin de Verre by Locke, Paris: a local for a while in the heart of the Latin Quarter
The hotel (designed by the London studio Fettle – Google it too) is built around the central glass garden, the "jardin de verre," which gives the hotel its name. This dramatic conservatory is the heart of the building and a peaceful oasis amid the bustling Latin Quarter.
The rooms—or rather, studios and apartments—are decorated in calming, neutral tones with parquet floors and soundproof walls. Each unit features a well-equipped kitchen with a stovetop, refrigerator, dishwasher, and kitchenware, as well as a seating area with a flat-screen TV, washing machine, and coffee and tea making facilities.
The restaurant serves a classic French menu, from brunch and lunch to dinner, high tea, and cocktails – all served on the striped chairs in the conservatory. Although it's now the largest hotel in the Fifth Arrondissement, it feels more like a local hangout. This is a deliberate strategy: Locke doesn't want to create a sterile hotel concept, but rather a vibrant space that truly feels part of the neighborhood. And they've certainly succeeded.
The hotel is located on the left bank of the Seine, in the heart of the Fifth Arrondissement, one of Paris's oldest and most characteristic neighborhoods. Just a stone's throw away are the Jardin des Plantes, the Pantheon, and the picturesque streets of the Latin Quarter. The Place Monge metro station (line 7) is just a two-minute walk away.

How much does it cost? Less than 300 euros per night. And that's a steal, especially considering the large rooms, the location, and the amenities by Parisian standards. You essentially get an entire apartment for it, right in the heart of one of the city's most desirable neighborhoods.
