Okay, okay, it's not on the coast, this city beach in, yes, Harderwijk (Gelderland). But! It will save you a few kilometers of driving if you live in the middle of the country (and want to go to the beach) and that is sometimes quite nice. Anyway, Valhalla Harderwijk, a beach bar on the edge of (the oh so cozy and picturesque) Harderwijk. In the middle of the Netherlands. Valhalla (it's in the name) is a really cool beach tent made from old construction containers. Outside there are chairs in the sand, you can hang out at the bar or find a place at one of the picnic tables. The relaxed atmosphere exudes 'feel free to sit here all day long.' And yes, you want that too.
Walhalla is a place for everyone and you can also sit here during a local shower. Why? It's just as cozy inside as it is outside! And that indeed for a city beach. So Rhenen, that's where you go for the zoo... Or for Sal do Mar. This one fine dining The business settled in the heart of Rhenen and now, a few years later, it is no longer part of the street scene. The idea behind the Sal do Mar concept is shared fine dining, either fine dining to share. Because taking forks from each other's dishes is the best dining experience. The same goes for Sal. Everything that is brought to your table per plate are small works of art and it tastes as good as it looks.
Italian restaurant ZafVino can be found in the cozy seven streets of Arnhem. A large terrace and a cozy restaurant filled with good wines. Box here, box there, full bottles, empty bottles, large and small, everything is everywhere and that makes it super fun. It is cozy and warm. Owner Zaf goes to Italy a few times a year to pick up the tastiest wines himself and then he immediately brings a good load of fresh truffles with him. Well, it's not going to get any better. An extensive menu with the tastiest Vitello Tonato ever. You've also come to the right place for lunch. And while you are in Arnhem, restaurant Cosi (from the same owner) on the edge of the Spijkerkwartier, also a top address.

In the always pleasant Amersfoort you can relax by letting yourself in Restaurant Demolition, in the heart of the center. Here on the back terrace you hear very little of the noise of city life. No, here relaxation comes on and the busy life is 'off' for a while, let's leave it outside and pick it up later.
Nothing but praise for the location: the terrace on the water is a nice place with the sun and you are always comfortable inside. Sloop is located in the city center of Amersfoort and inside the business is a cozy space with just enough tables to create a cozy atmosphere. We like it. Just as pleasant is the menu where we can never choose between a portion of oyster slurping or a brisket from the BBQ. Oh and next time a banana with sambal.
