La Guérite Cannes

This place people! This place... La Guérite Cannes, remembers that name.

Okay, so it went like this: when we heard about a restaurant on an island off the coast of Cannes, where, among other things, they have their own super light pink rosé, we of course had to go there. But how? So Cannes is quite a simple city, but no one tells you how to get to such an island... You can take the ferry. Yeah, but where does that godforsaken thing go?! Even in the hotel: je ne sais pas. But hey! A little restaurant gives the answer itself, and so it happens. Because, yes, of course they have a shuttle service. It costs 25 euros per person, but hey, you're on a speedboat and not among the crowds. It's the holidays... So that's what we did.

And it was fantastic! From the moment we got on the speedboat (you get on at a modern glass building on the water near the Le Baoli club in the harbour), we saw the ferry zoom past (aaaahhh, so that's where it left. That wasn't actually been so difficult), mooring (you feel a lot classier when you get off a private boat, admit it), we took a seat, occasionally wandered to the toilets (ah, there is an almost equally nice mini terrace -plus restaurant where you can eat for 1/3 of the money... No one had told us either) and three bottles and a nightcap later we dumped into the clear blue water for a cooling splash, until the moment it hit us again - big drunk – dropped off. Everything fantastic

And it all puts a strain on the holiday budget. Man. How expensive. Delicious, yes, but a main course is starter size and a bottle of wine under 40 euros? Forget it. Team Bart (the husband and the undersigned) invariably becomes recalcitrant about this and therefore opts for that 60/70 euro bottle. And not one, no three (remember that speedboat? So we didn't have to pay for that... That had something to do with the size of our final bill). After which we had to eat a peanut butter sandwich (sort of speaking) for dinner (this was lunch). Anyway. Never to be forgotten. Tasty. Fantastic. Duration. And too much fun. Next time we'll just do it again. La Guerite
