La Maison Moizeau, Noirmoutier-en-l'Île, France
Tiny, with just five rooms, is La Maison Moizeau, the modern boutique hotel of star chef Alexandre Couillon. The entrance is grand, with a towering wooden roof, an enormous staircase, white walls and canary yellow benches along long wooden tables. The open steel constructions and slats along the stairs give the space an airy character. Upstairs are the rooms: modern sleeping quarters with crunchy white sheets, airy curtains and warm wooden floors – a Scandinavian atmosphere in France. Word is that the chef comes to prepare a special snack live every day around five o'clock and eat it with the guests, which is a sweet gesture. Reservations by email. La Maison Moizeau
