Michelin Star Award Day is here again! All time favorite De Librije retains its three stars. And many lovely, new (and hardworking) restaurants have opened: two two-star restaurants, five one-star restaurants, and two Green Michelin star restaurants. Well done, Dutch catering industry! Time to get the bucketlist. restock. These are the new and favorite Michelin restaurants in the Netherlands in 2025.

All-time favorite the Librije, Zwolle

All-time favorite the Librije, Zwolle

Extra recognition for the Librije This year, they retain their three Michelin stars. While richly deserved, it's certainly not a given since Jonnie's unexpected passing. Fortunately, they retain their three stars, meaning De Librije will remain the only restaurant in the Netherlands with three Michelin stars in 2025.

Create, Eijsden

Create, Eijsden

Perhaps not yet known by name, the new restaurant Create, but certainly no stranger in the world of gastronomy: Guido Braeken. You might know him from his time as chef at Julemont, where he previously earned two Michelin stars. The restaurant has been open for less than six months, but Guido Braeken has already earned two stars at his new location – in the luxury Van Oys Hotel in Eijsden. Create is one such establishment where everything is perfect, with exceptional cuisine.

GEM, Gemert

GEM, Gemert

Also at restaurant GEM At the helm is someone you might already know: Soenil Bahadoer. Like Guido, Soenil has left his old restaurant, De Lindehof, behind and opened a new one. It's only recently opened, but Soenil knows exactly what he's doing – and it's been immediately rewarded with two Michelin stars. A blend of his Surinamese-Hindustani roots and a French foundation, combined into a completely unique style.

The new one-star restaurants

The new one-star restaurants

Kudos to the incredibly hardworking hospitality industry, where we love to spend time. This year, five new restaurants have been awarded one Michelin star:

  • Old Market | Aalten | chef Bram Stoverink
  • Cabbage | Amsterdam | chef Merijn van Berlo
  • CUE | Amsterdam | chef George Kataras
  • Novaela | Delft | chef Daniel Duijster Gomero
  • Restaurant Calva | Nootdorp | chef Tom Beckers

The new restaurants with a Green Star

The new restaurants with a Green Star

Being good to the planet and being a good cook? Not so hard these days. But excelling at it? That's a different story. Earning a green Michelin star is no easy feat: you have to excel in sustainability and actively commit to environmentally friendly business practices and gastronomy. By 2025, two businesses will have achieved this: Konijnenvoer (Rabbit Food) and Tres.

  • Rabbit food | chef Demain Parasmo
  • TRES | chef Michael van der Kroft

The new restaurants with a Bib Gourmand

  • 'the Nun | Harderwijk
  • Spectrum | Amsterdam
  • Amarone | Rotterdam
  • Rhine view | Doornenburg
  • Chateau Neercanne | Maastricht
  • Studio | Maastricht

The Crooked Drawbar | Heelsum

The Crooked Drawbar | Heelsum

We're writing this down because they're the longest-standing restaurant in the Netherlands (and the Benelux!) that's held that Michelin star. That alone deserves its own spot.

After a fantastic dinner (six courses, all the trimmings), you'll slide straight into bed and then join us for breakfast the next morning – still remembering the wine from the previous evening's wine pairing. Voilà, a complete star-studded weekend.

Jeweler | Amsterdam

Jeweler | Amsterdam

In this fine restaurant you can enjoy lunch and dinner, where chefs Richard van Oostenbrugge en Thomas Groot (Ha! Famous names!) will provide you with the most delicious dishes. The chefs are not the least. The menu – with three appetizers, three entrées, and four main courses – is not extensive, but what they have on it is more than good. For example, we saw Holsteiner ronder tartare with wild mudflat oyster and seaweed cracker, a steamed soufflé with Comté and white Alba truffle. Don't forget to leave room for Joke's Dutch cheeses with jam or one of the three delicious desserts (such as Baba au rhum, or gcaramelized apple in puff pastry with vanilla ice cream and calvado)
