Nina Poot (the one from Anna+Nina) talks about (spoiler): sneak peeks, interior and more
To get up our own words to enter: 'And next time we will speak to Nina, stay tuned'.
Today we are going to meet the second half of the Anna+Nina couple and fulfill our previously mentioned promise. We are talking about Nina (the one from Anna+Nina). The name is Nina Poot. Nina is more than just the nice half of the Amsterdam label that has gotten out of hand. We borrowed Anna for a while last time and now it's Nina's turn. Because Nina is of course also a lady with taste. How could it be otherwise? And we, team Barts Boekje, love that. Smart women with a smart eye for beautiful things. High time for a round of questions, and believe us, it came:
Whether it's up to us, who knows, but as a first question we just want to know where Nina gets her inspiration from. Something about the cleverness just mentioned versus clever things. At Nina it goes like this: twice a year, together with partner in crime Anna, a trip to Bali, that Indonesian island, to buy the most beautiful things sourcing. The couple is always inspired by the magic of the island. If it were up to Nina, the most beautiful wooden furniture would come from Balinese soil. Then it should come as no surprise that a completely new interior is regularly shipped to Nina's home in containers.
If it is not Bali, where the inspo is collected from, we find Nina browsing through magazines such as Milk Design, Residences and Vogue Living. And of course Amsterdam is always there to supplement the portion of inspiration.
With a city center move, Nina has recently poured her inspiration pot into a new interior. Wonderful from floor to ceiling, everything newnewnew. There was a lot of shopping at a Zara Home and all time favorite Archive Store was also well attended. Oh and the Swedish Artillery, according to Nina, we should absolutely not forget. Notes.
New and old furniture was dragged into the Amsterdam house, often with names such as Ferm Living, De Weldaad, Van Dijk and Ko (ha, we have those earlier heard). All cherished works of art also got their own place on the wall. When it comes to art, Nina is a big fan of Kat Klerks, AKILA BERJAOUI and high on the I want it list is another beautiful work via the website Bendtsens.com. Flinders is also a great platform where you can find the most beautiful design items. And, and, and… once she starts she can't stop talking about it.
Speaking of the styling of the house, Nina also knows her addresses there. If it were up to Nina, lighting was especially important. Candles everywhere, lamps with a shade, it's the little things that immediately make your home a lot more cozy. A nice large sofa with lots of cushions where you can collapse after a day of work is of course also indispensable.
An outdoor oven is also high on the wish list Weltevree for summer evenings in the garden. Well, that goes straight on the list here too.
Of course we can't resist getting the latest scoops and news from the Anna+Nina brand. What's happening behind the brand and what's more to come?
The seven seas (an ancient phrase for all of the world's oceans) is, you guessed it, inspired by the ocean. The newest homecollection consists of all things blue and the most diverse shades of color. Mugs, cutlery, shells and a crazy bottle stopper. The collection has it. Candlesticks cast in azure and bright blue, placemats in the shape of shells combined with golden cutlery such as an indispensable butterknife. The collection feels like a breath of fresh air and can be easily combined with other home collections from the store. We like en we want.
On the other hand, the ladies simply throw in a solid gold collection. Beautifully beautiful. The collection is one for a longer period and consciously designed with 'timeless' in mind. The collection screams 'we want it all and unfortunately the wallet cannot use that'. Nina: 'Our solid gold collection is a collection that has been available for a longer period of time. That is why we often design jewelry that is timeless and can be beautifully combined with our gold-plated collections. My favorite at the moment is the doubled ring, this reminds me of the rings my mother used to wear.' Those ladies from Anna+Nina have a solid place in the heart.
This also shows that Nina (and team) sees inspiration in everything. When coming up with a new theme for a new collection, inspiration often arises spontaneously. From watching a movie, reminiscing to a trip abroad. Nina: 'I can't wait for the launch of our Disco Jungle jewelry collection august this year. Shot on our beloved island Bali, just before the corona lockdown started. We use a lot of stones in this collection, lots of glitter & shine hence the Disc. Furthermore, many elements from the jungle return, such as palm trees, salamanders and flowers'. With these words we just add: is it August yet?!
And then it still says more than enough on the Anna + Nina schedule for the rest of the year. A tiny, but at the same time also a very beautiful, Over the Rainbow 14k gold collection launched. That's really what the collection is called Over the Rainbow, we couldn't have thought of a more appropriate name. A colorful collection with refined 14k gold earrings, charms, initials and chains. Everything, everything with real gemstones, in all colors of the rainbow.
En June 9 the amazing new Romy Boomsma collection was finally unveiled. And, as Nina reveals, this one is even more spectacular than the previous year. Because last year it was already mouthwatering to see all the beauty. Anna+Nina+Romy: it's what they call a match made in heaven. Trust me, it'll be good! Another small clothing collection will follow this fall Winter Travel Affairs and we end this year with one Party jewelry line followed by a Christmas collection with the most hysterical Christmas baubles. All Anna+Nina pampering. Well, they don't sit still there. Fortunately, we wouldn't have it any other way.
Not sitting still often results in busy days. A typical Nina day looks like this: when the alarm clock strikes 7:00, Hein (le husband) and Nina awakened by their two daughters Sammie & Mae. Having breakfast together with the whole family is the order of the day. And at about 9:00 AM Nina goes out to get take away coffee and a cinnamon bun at the restaurant. 4850 (all-time favorite, also among the Bartjes) or she goes upstairs to work from home. The working days often end earlier, around noon, 15 p.m.
Usually she goes to the playground with the kids in the afternoon or to Anna's. Still that Anna, partner in crime. Also outside office hours. Or, when the sun is shining, get an ice cream at Van Soest. Tip from Nina: try the white chocolate and raspberry! And then, every day at 17 p.m. sharp, Nina pours herself a glass of wine. My favorite wine at the moment is the Corette Chardonnay. Relaxing, that is necessary in these crazy times. True that!
Nina: 'I wish I had to think about what to do next. My days fly by because of a lot of work and 2 children at home. I wish I could say I read a lot. I regularly try it and my eyes close after a page... so I often choose Netflix (currently Unorthadox, The Last Dance) or a bad movie.'
We feel you! Nina's words about reading books: 'You really have to be involved for this Anna being, that's a bookworm. I'm a very bad reader. The only books I am currently reading that really help me are parenting books "The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read" by Philippa Perry. And if I were pregnant for the first time, I would immediately buy the book Mama'en by Nina Pierson!'
