Admittedly, Cannes itself is not necessarily our favorite of all the French cities - too small for the tablecloth, too big for the napkin, so to speak, but the region absolutely is and if you are in the area, definitely do a visit night or two. The fashionable city - and especially the surroundings of the city - on the Southern French coast is the refuge of classy French people and equally classy fellow Europeans who often own a second home there. Cannes is not that difficult. Touristy, fully equipped, and yet chic.
