Bye, bye perfume: choose AllergyCertified skincare products
When you think of perfume, names like Chanel N°5, Dior J'adore and Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf probably come to mind first. Behind your ears, on your neck, and maybe even a few spritzes in your hair. What you probably don't think about is that perfume isn't just in your favorite scent, it's also in your body lotion, your baby's shampoo, and even your mascara. Yep, perfume is everywhere and can lead to perfume allergies - and that's not good news for your skin. Luckily, there's AllergyCertified to the rescue! They make short work of the list of culprits and do the research for you. This way you only have to choose products that really protect your skin.
The Danish AllergyCertified is the quality mark you want to know if you take your skin and health seriously (and yes, you do). Many people start to feel dizzy when they look at the label of their (skincare) products. It seems like a code that needs to be cracked, with all those abracadabra names that don't make it easy for us. And if you do google it, you often don't get much wiser.
Leave the deciphering to AllergyCertified. Since 2014, toxicologist Ewa Daniél and CEO Lene Stiil’s mission has been crystal clear: reducing skin allergies through strict product certification. Every product is checked in detail. From allergens like limonene and linalool (those natural fragrances that unfortunately don’t feel so ‘natural’ on your skin) to hormone disruptors and carcinogens.
When it comes to your skin, you don't want it. Did you know, for example, that the Netherlands has the highest exposure to perfume in all of Europe? This means that we ingest far more perfume substances every day than we might want. Perfume allergies are therefore a growing problem. Just think of those red spots, itching or rashes - the so-called "red with white dots" that can be caused by perfume. For skin allergies in all shapes and sizes, the rule is: 'prevention is better than cure'.
In skincareland we are often led astray more often than necessary. Natural products and creams for the ssensitive skin are bulging from the shelves and it is not surprising if you can't see the forest for the trees. All those 'natural' products may sound like music to your ears, but what often remains unclear is that these products are still full of ingredients that you would rather avoid.
It is therefore extra pleasant when you do not have to decipher all those labels yourself. With the AllergyCertified quality mark, you can use fine products without worries, even with the most sensitive skin. And there is no shortage of choice: there are now more than 3.000 products (we repeat 3.000 products!) certified with the AllergyCertified label. Think of baby products, face creams and even all-purpose cleaners - all without the junk that you would rather not have near your skin or family.
Enough talk, time for action! Making conscious choices for your skin and health is easier than you think. A first step could be to take a good look at your bathroom cabinet. Our skin actually doesn't need that much. A critical look can't hurt.
Our friends at AllergyCertified came up with something fun for this: the No Perfume Day on January 16th. The first edition is in the new year, so why not start fresh with this perfume-free day? Who knows, it might become a new healthy routine – for you and your skin!
