Head over heels for the Spanish restaurant Barrica Amsterdam

Sigh. It's that time again. Head over heels in love with restaurant Barrica Amsterdam. This wine & food bar with Spanish and Italian influences could just as well have been in Barcelona, the atmosphere is so un-Dutch. Granted, we haven't seen snow this winter, but a little foreign warmth is always welcome, isn't it?

Step inside and you know you're in the right place. This is mainly due to the dim lights, the ubiquitous candles and the enormous bottles of wine on every table. The latter are not full: no, the wine menu is printed on them. That means less space on the table, but it is oh so charming. You understand. At least as charming is the cheerful service that can talk like Brugman but also understands when we want to be left alone. Always nice. We even left the restaurant with a list full of book recommendations (that's no joke).

You can make a reservation until 18:30 PM, after which it's a matter of walking in and hoping, no praying (yes, really) that you have a spot. So just make a reservation and you will be assured of a pleasant evening.  If you have a date night if you have a room, or are even with a party of two: ask for a seat by the window. Just trust us.

You can of course choose your own wine, but it's all the more fun to get advice. Then choose something that you would not normally take, there is a good chance that you will still like it, it is a good card. Speaking of a menu: when you think of Spanish food, people often think of meat in all shapes and sizes, but vegetarians will also get their money's worth here. The tartare with beetroot, goat cheese and walnut is one of the (fine) examples.

You already heard it, nothing but praise for restaurant Barrica Amsterdam. If we have to mention a downside, it is that we don't come here more often.
