This is how you do a ROUND of PINTXOS through San Sebastián

Just like in Bilbao spend an evening dining in Saint Sebastian hopping through the city. It is not without reason that the Basque Country produces the best chefs on earth: it is impossible to name only one, two or, yes, three pintxos bars here. So a round of pintxos it is, for a wonderful and evening-filling program that won't even leave you broke.

Start especially in the old town, to immediately get into the traditional vibe and ditto bites. Paco Bueno is a family restaurant famous for its tempura shrimp. With a glass Txakoli (a local light wine) a great light start to the evening. Then we visit a modern address, a cocktail bar of all places: sirimiri. Don't stay too long either, as the bill here for two drinks and a pintxo snack easily reaches the astronomical amount of 20 euros, compared to about 4 euros at Paco Bueno. Order the pulpo or Iberico ham. Casa Urola is one of the top spots in the old part. The chef, Pablo Loureiro, is on it. The best products and the tastiest vegetables and scallops (served with cold ajoblanco: almond-garlic soup). Add Cava. And on again.

To Gandarias, another classic, especially because of the steak pintxo with pepper. Bar Gandarias opens later than all the other establishments and the risotto is a good option for vegetarians here. You really end with Atari, for a long time the only gin and tonic address in the city. Would you prefer one address? Then do it TX Club: above a pintxos shop, in the basement a speakeasy-style club where you can reserve a table. The food is a delicious mix of Spanish classics: creamy mushroom rice with yuca and a Scotch egg with black pudding. An excellent cocktail and wine list and the DJ at the weekend make this a great one-stop shop.
