We think we know why this special restaurant got this name. Our guess: heaven because you can enjoy your 7-course meal for a long time in the food-heaven is located on earth because the focus of the kitchen is on seasonal products. It is a fact that you will enjoy a delicious meal here: Hemel & Aarde previously appeared in the Michelin Guide 2023 selection. We also sat down here for a festive meal.
There's a good chance you've walked past it if you've been to the city center of Utrecht. In the Keistraat This mysterious restaurant is located just a stone's throw from the Cathedral. We say mysterious, because from the street you can't quite see inside. Believe us: the wow effect is even greater when you step through the large doors.
High ceilings with paintings, a mirror cube in the air (yes, really!) and tropical plants along your table. It is a large space, but it feels very cozy once you sit at the table. You can contact Hemel & Aarde for: lunch en diner, where you can enjoy 3 to 4 courses in the afternoon and 5 to 7 courses in the evening.
Back to dinner. When we talked about a 7-course party, we really meant a 7-course party. The focus for the dishes of chef Rene van der Weijden and brigade are at seasonal products and also nice: vegetables play the leading role, fish and meat the supporting roles.
The signature dish is the beetroot and we can already tell you, you have never tasted a beet so delicious. Bet? We were told that this dish will always be on the menu and we understand that all too well. What else you can expect depends on mother nature, because at Hemel & Aarde the menu is determined by what the earth has to offer at that moment. Whatever it will be, the fact is that you will eat delicious food.
