New and really worth it: Locals restaurant in Arnhem
Directly opposite Arnhem station restaurant Locals Arnhem opened its doors. A fine dining restaurant hotel Haarhuis where sustainable, healthy and tasty food is central. Here you can taste the best of Dutch soil. The products such as meat, fish and dairy come from suppliers in the immediate vicinity. Ahhha! Hence the name Locals! You get it.
We wrote about it before hotel Haarhuis, but the Locals restaurant deserves its own article.
Locals has its own greenhouse, or one Vertical farm as they call it themselves. The vegetables and herbs end up straight from the greenhouse onto your plate. It couldn't be fresher. Well, of course the ingredients first go to the kitchen, where Frank Bregman is at the helm. Frank apprenticed with Sergio Herman, which ensures unique, high-quality dishes. But Frank doesn't do it alone. He works together with Niven Kunz, the vegetable chef of the Netherlands. Niven works according to the 80/20 principle: vegetables versus meat and fish. So vegetables play the leading role. How healthy do you want it?
Back to the Vertical Farm, because that is something unique in Arnhem. In this greenhouse the food is grown in a sustainable environment. The crops grow entirely on water, without external influences. So no hassle with pesticides or other nasty pesticides. Simply, pure nature. That's what we want, right?
Do you want a private dinner, an exclusive drink or a meeting in a special environment? Then you can rent a space next to the greenhouse (how nice!). You are then in the middle of the green. A unique experience. Do it!
The dishes at Locals are to die for. Think of gratinated cauliflower with arugula and Drielse oude or Hollande entrecote with pointed cabbage, smoked potato mousseline and potato gratin. Or the divine dessert of Betuwe apple, farm boys with rice and vanilla ice cream. Is your mouth watering yet?
The menu is not very large with four starters, three entrees and six main courses, but what is on it is more than good. And the best part is: the healthy, culinary delights are affordable too. So win-win.
