More French than French: bistro Madama Georgette in Venlo
Restaurants (or better yet: bistros) with a French twist: we love them. The atmosphere, the food (who says no to French cuisine?), the good wines and in the background a French song. To everything we say: ouiouioui, come on. Another French pearl has sprung up like a mushroom in the south of our country: bistro Madame Georgette in Venlo (North Limburg). A place where joy of living celebrates heyday.
This French bistro Madame Georgette is a newcomer in the center of Venlo. And we know: location is key. This is the perfect place, because Madame Georgette is located on the coziest, nicest street in the city - the Jodenstraat. There where you are welcomed with a French Hello and where you just can't get a glass of champagne pressed into your hands. Where the (enthusiastic and sweet) service wears those typical black screams. In the summer you can relax on the bistro chairs on the terrace with a view of, yes, the French flag. You can look straight into the street and enjoy people-watching.
Less good weather? Adjust the problem at Madame Georgette's. You will also be more than fine inside. The velvety soft sofas – at a cozy, round table – are the stars of the place. What's on the menu? Typical French dishes. From lunch dishes such as salad nicoise (of course with fresh tuna) and homemade onion soup to dinner dishes such as steak tartare, escargots and cabillaud. Dessert consists of course – is that even a question? – from a cheese board. There are only French wines on the menu and we don't mind that at all. Recommended? The buttery Chardonnay.
