The ins and outs of your favorite sunscreen
Hello, I'm Nourished, nice to meet you. Just an introduction round, so that all heads are facing the same direction. Because who and what is nourished actually? Nourished is the one one stop shop for all your clean & green make-up, skin care & personal care products for a healthier planet and healthier people. The founders of Nourished, the Dutch Floor and the Australian Erin, found a gap in the market. While there was an abundance of natural skin care in Australia, there was still a lot to be gained in the Netherlands. And it shows, because Nourished has become a firm favorite for many in the Netherlands when it comes to ordering natural care products.
And now, one newby: Nourished introduces its own natural sunscreen line, called Daily Sunscreen SPF50. This sunscreen is suitable for both body and face. It couldn't be missing from our range, because as soon as the sun shines again, sunscreen is the most important accessory. The sun is of course great because it is (free) vitamin D provides what the body so desperately needs. But, you do need to know how to best protect yourself against the harmful effects of the sun.
What is the difference between natural and chemical sunscreen? There's a good chance you can guess it, but it's useful to have it clearly on paper. What is in natural sunscreen? A mineral filter, such as zinc oxide. This ingredient ensures that your skin is protected against the sun's radiation and reduces irritation. People with sensitive skin can therefore use this sunscreen. And finally, what is often overlooked is that natural sunscreen is also very environmentally friendly. It does not contain chemicals that are harmful to coral reefs and other sea inhabitants.
What should you watch out for? For chemical sunburn. The chemical sunscreen penetrates directly into your skin and thus protects, but that means that the ingredients actually end up in your body. Here's a list of ingredients to stay away from: oxybenzone, benzophenone-3, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, octyl methoxycinnamate, and octocrylene.
Four different sunscreen bottles in the bag, because everyone has a certain preference and a different skin type. Recognizable? Well, it's a hassle, that sunscreen. But with the Nourished Daily Sunscreen, a bag full of bottles is a thing of the past. Because this one is a winner for the whole family. The structure is nice, it spreads easily and is not sticky (if you know, you know). It doesn't leave a white cast, so you won't be walking around like Casper the ghost all day (you already are the rest of the year, but you don't have to in the summer). Children from 6 months can also use this sunscreen, and so can grandparents (of course). Oh and lastly, the scent of this sunscreen is also super pleasant. Daily Sunscreen has a subtle scent of sandalwood, frankincense and vanilla.
Some tips for baking. You probably know them, but let's refresh them. Every two hours it is time to thoroughly rub yourself again. Because sweat and water ensure that the sunscreen no longer works properly after a while. It is also good to mention that too long in the sun is not good for you anyway (take it from real holiday lovers). Seek shade, especially between 1am and 16pm. And to protect the playing kids even better, wearing sun clothing, hats/caps or sunglasses is certainly a good idea.
The tips and tricks have been shared, now we just have to wait for a holiday (and sun). Safely enjoying the sun is guaranteed with Daily Sunscreen. So, put that sunscreen in your bag and apply it.
