Tuscany, the region famous for its wines (health!), olive groves and rolling hills has a hidden gem: Casa Newton. Situated in a somewhat remote spot where sheep cross the road, you will find this charming country house. Once known for the Fabbrica Pienza winery, but after the takeover in 2010 it got a major upgrade. The name is a tribute to the Italian builder, Gervasio Newton.

Casa Newton has nine rooms and suites spread over three floors of the country house, plus two panoramic suites in the garden. The interior is mid-century with vintage furniture, ceramics, woven fabric walls and geometric patterns in green tones. Each room is quirkily decorated and the rooms are named after the children of the former owners – kind of cute, right? Discover African-lovers and seasoned wine connoisseurs will feel absolutely at home here.

The views over the vineyard – they are really not a punishment! Whether you take a walk through the vineyard or take a refreshing dip in the pool, the views are always picture-perfect. And in the truffle season you can also look for fungi here (perfect for all die hard hobby cooks). Then take a pasta cooking class and read a book in the sun? Not bad either! And yes, a tour of the Pienza Factory with a few glasses of wine is of course an absolute black!
