pumping station

pumping station

Pompstation is an official wedding venue, and that impressive 14-meter-high space in Amsterdam School style makes every ceremony a real wow. What was once a pumping station from 1912 is now a beautiful restaurant where you sit in a vintage Amsterdam vibe and can eat incredibly well. The terrace at Pompstation is what you would expect from a 'urban oasis' you could call it. Tucked away behind the robust industrial building, you will find this green haven with candlelight and plants everywhere. The large courtyard is naturally perfect for photos and drinks, and then simply partying on until the early hours at the same location. Everything under one roof – ceremony, dinner, party – ideal.

Slope 7

Between the steel of ships, old harbor cranes and the smell of fire you will find the delightful Slipway 7 on. The former shipyard canteen in the Amsterdam harbor area is perfect for cozy dinners as well as large groups and parties. One floor down, beneath the restaurant, lies the wharf cellar. Intimate, a tad mysterious, and perfect for dinners, drinks, or parties. The terrace offers a front row View of Amsterdam's last active shipyard. While you get married overlooking the IJ, sparks are flying on the other side. In case of rain, there is a covered area that transforms the terrace into a cozy outdoor spot. Atmosphere is also key in the garden. Cozy corners, a great view, and space to celebrate, dine, or simply relax. Tip: The Garden is the ideal place for a festival wedding, where a unique experience can be created for guests in a setting that is anything but standard.

Tip from Wedding Planner Evi

Tip from Wedding Planner Evi

Ha! Evi is the place to go for all-things weddings. And that's how she gave the best tip of all: Mix & Match.

“The most beautiful weddings in Amsterdam are often those where you use the city as a backdrop and opt for a mix & match setup. Think: an intimate ceremony in a monumental building such as the Maritime Museum, Huis Bartolotti, the Gemeenlandshuis or the Schellingwouderkerk: all top locations with character. Afterwards, an atmospheric dinner at Entrepot, for example, and for the party, simply back to the first location. Or perhaps a third location! Everything is possible, nothing is required. It is precisely that combination of styles and atmospheres that makes the day so unique and unforgettable.”

Pulitzer

Pulitzer

Pulitzer, one of the favorite hotels in Amsterdam. That is not without reason: the location is great, the hospitality is on and the formal and casual looks are envious. The restaurants (there are two) are good and the bar ditto. Well, do you get the point? Wedding guests gather. You can officially say "I do" here and then celebrate the reception, dinner and party. How about A wedding ceremony in the monumental Saxenburg Hall in the 25th-century Saxenburg House? Or a reception in the Garden Hall with its adjacent courtyards? And just as fantastic is the Pulitzer salon boat. What makes it all extra special is that the hotel consists of a collection of no fewer than XNUMX canal houses, all interconnected. A short corridor here, a corner, and on to the next room. It's wonderful to wander around and feast your eyes on all the beauty. Nothing overdone or too posh. No Pulitzer, just Pulitzer. A down-to-earth Dutch atmosphere combined with modernity and simply ridiculously beautiful.

Rosewood

Rosewood

The total renovation of the historic building on the Amsterdam Prinsengracht, built in 1665 and for many years the Amsterdam Palace of Justice, took over ten years. And recently became home to the Rosewood Hotel Amsterdam where you pay – after all, that renovation has to be earned back – a mere 1100 euros per room per night… And we admit: the hotel is gorgeous, super chic and the service is excellent. So if you have a lot of money and want to spend it, you will have an excellent wedding here.

The Ballroom is perfect for a show-stopping party or classic dinner with its long table, ornate features and sculptural chandeliers catching the light. The hotel is also very marble, very (reasonably) sad beige, a lot of art (yes!). You walk through Piet Oudolf's Garden and you join in Advocatuur, the hotel bar that pays tribute to the legal heritage of the building, we do! And the Asaya Spa of Rosewood Amsterdam is also worth mentioning.

Uilenburgersjoel

Uilenburgersjoel

One of the most beautiful wedding venues in Amsterdam is the Uilenburgersjoel, located in a hidden spot on the island of Uilenburg. Right in the heart of the city, yet it feels like you've completely escaped it all. Behind a monumental gate, you step into a former synagogue dating back to 1766, featuring high windows, original details, and a serene atmosphere. You say 'I do' in the impressive upper hall, enjoy drinks in the courtyard amidst the greenery, and dine in style downstairs or in the intimate Garden House. Everything about this place exudes character, history, and tranquility. An added bonus: you rent the venue exclusively, and it is an official municipal wedding location. The catering? In good hands with Wendy Welvaars, who understands that getting married should also simply be delicious. A touch under the radar, entirely yours on the day itself, and oh so beautiful.

Fruit garden of West

Fruit garden of West

Saying YES while enjoying organic bubbles in an orchard in your own country. In the Fruittuin van West, Amsterdam-west that isDe Fruittuin van West has now been officially designated as a wedding venue. And the nice thing is that this is an orchard that can be fully decorated, while still being surrounded by nature (a bit of a down-to-earth feel). Make it as romantic as you like. After 6:30 PM, you can also visit the garden café or the courtyard. Dinner is served here! Many a pizza-foliage You can come here, because they have their own clay oven where those delicious crispy pizzas slide right out of the oven. Chance of (unfortunately) somewhat bad weather covered. Literally, because the courtyard can be covered. This is perfect for those looking for a location in the middle of nature (yet a bit in the city). A perfect wedding in green glory with red apples on the trees.

ARTIS

ARTIS

Getting married in ARTIS? Yes, you can. And not between the elephants and giraffes, but in one of the most beautiful buildings on the edge of the park. You get married here in one of the historical halls. Think: high windows in the King's Hall, the Tiger Hall (with a view of the flamingos), or a drink in the Members' Rooms with French doors to the zoo. The catering is provided by in-house caterer Vermaat (handy!), and entrance tickets for the guests are included in the wedding package. Extra nice: the Aquarium is open again after a thorough restoration!

Artis as a wedding location? Do it.

WestWeelde, Amsterdam

WestWeelde, Amsterdam

We asked Sarah Glasbergen, founder of ThePerfectWedding.nl, which locations she finds particularly special. Her three favorites? Definitely WestWeelde, Amsterdam.Mourning in a historic part of Amsterdam is an ideal location. This industrial site once supplied the city with energy, but now it's a trendy and popular spot to exchange vows.

"The venue exudes history: an old, characterful building with original details. Brickwork, large open spaces, and metal details contribute to the special atmosphere. The venue is suitable for ceremonies with 300 guests, but for dinner and parties, it can be even more elaborate: you can invite as many as 600-800 people!" says Sarah. "In the evening, the disco balls are hung and the speakers are turned on: there's plenty of dancing to be had in this urban room."

The Empire of the Emperor

The Empire of the Emperor

Het Rijk is located on the artist's terrain of the 1800 Roeden and was once part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam. That artsy atmosphere is still there, mixed with a touch of gipsy, Alice in Wonderland and even the term Villa Kakelbont is not out of place here. The vibe, quirky in the broadest sense of the word, feels like you've ended up in a fairy tale. It reminds you of Ruigoord, you know, that creative artists' village a few kilometres away. Colourful tents, vintage furniture, candlesticks up to the ceiling, trees full of flickering lights, and hidden corners where you can retreat for a while. You ask, they turn. Nothing is too crazy in this free haven. The team of Het Rijk has a slight preference for over-the-top, and the word 'spectacle' is very popular with them. There is no shortage of styling with a capital S, and good humor flows freely, in addition to organic wine and cocktails.

House Frankendael

House Frankendael

Huize Frankendael is located in the fantastic Frankendael park. Huize Frankendael: deep in Amsterdam East and whoever drives past it probably thinks it's a great place to get married. And so it is! Not so long ago a family lived here and now a young chef stirs the pots of restaurant Merkelbach. The restaurant is beautiful and nice and so is the rest. A small, intimate, raw space? Check. A classic, spacious garden? Check. An intimate classic salon, in colors that you would like at home? Check! Add to that the fact that the food is provided from the sublime Merkelbach restaurant, and you have a check, check, double check.

Hortus Botanicus

Hortus Botanicus

One of the most (very, very, very) beautiful places in Amsterdam? The Hortus, of course. Ticket to the tropics but then in your own country/city. And you can simply get married there; it's not even that complicated. The wedding itself takes place at the very tip of the so-called Palm House in the afternoon, after 4:00 PM. You can also have your marriage solemnized in the café (with lots of plants!).

And there are still some spaces to get married. Or to eat. Or to have that party. And the Oranjerie is such a beautiful room. One that makes your jaw drop (a little). So. Beautiful. Provided it's well decorated of course. Tropical wedding in the summer? You can also sit around a campfire in the evening. There is one disadvantage: you are not allowed to play blaring music at your party because of the neighbors. We understand that, but it is still a shame.

Mediamatic Amsterdam

Mediamatic Amsterdam

On the street side, Mediamatic Amsterdam, right next to Hanneke's Boom, always looks like a bit of a crazy place. A kind of museum for physics kids. An alternative mess where there is mainly something to learn and therefore not necessarily a place for a party. Wrong! Very wrong. The other side of Mediamatic, just like Hanneke's Boom and Hanneke's Boot, borders the water and the entire space is made of glass. Moreover, Mediamatic is not that 'hip' and therefore much cheaper (don't tell anyone). Please note: the kitchen is vegan.

IJver, Amsterdam North

IJver, Amsterdam North

You should definitely check out the "beer café," aka IJver, for your wedding. The owners of IJver, located on NDSM Square, in front of the massive event warehouse, are absolutely crazy about weddings. Ha! A rugged warehouse, and there's little that compliments a crisp white wedding dress (or suit!) better than that. A little about IJver: the business was founded by a couple of young hospitality entrepreneurs who have been doing well in the city for quite some time. Reinout, the man behind Bar Baarsch, Café Vrijdag, and Weesper, gathered friends and partners Sikko, Tim, Arne, and chef Herman. They pitched their plans for the venue to the city council, after which a renovation period of over four years followed. And so a thriving wedding venue was created: unique spaces for 5 to 1000 people, open 7 days a week, from morning to night, including catering and staff, professional lighting and sound systems, and parking right outside.
