These are our favorite wellness hotels in Antwerp (also great for your solo trip!)
AntwerpYou are (and will always be!) a favorite. We visit you a few times a year, and it never gets boring. From soaking up culture and (vintage) shopping to magnificent dining and wonderful overnight stays. And if you visit a place more often, the urge to explore every nook and cranny of the city diminishes, and you can even be tempted to simply not leave your hotel for a day (or two)... Talking: massage, spa, room service, repeat. These are our pick of wellness hotels in Antwerp (also great for your solo trip!).
One of the youngest hotels on this list, but Botanic Sanctuary Antwerp is definitely the ultimate spa and wellness hotel destination in Antwerp... In the heart of the city, an unparalleled location, all in that typical Flemish 'Flamant' gray shades and an amazing spa (that pool is a dream!). Moreover, Botanic Sanctuary Antwerp only has top-notch restaurants, which means you can have room service (which we want after hours of soaking in the spa). we fleek is.
In the former Augustinian monastery in Antwerp you will find August, a 'contemporary retreat' as the owners themselves say. Either one special hospitality project with hotel, bar, restaurant, wellness A shop, designed by Vincent Van Duysen, run by the people behind the boutique hotel Hotel Julien. Once inside, there's absolutely no reason to explore Antwerp. The splendor and grandeur radiate from both the building's exterior and interior, and the service and food are exquisite. Immerse yourself in the spa and secure a nice table in the restaurant—nothing more to worry about.
Then comes the "where." Because that's another interesting one: the former Augustinian Monastery, and therefore August, is located on the grounds of the former Military Hospital in Antwerp. In the Berchem district, now also known as the Groenkwartier (Green Quarter). For those in the know: that means August is a bit out of the city center, but that's okay because we're not going out anyway: the spa is wonderful, the restaurant is too, and if you do want to take a detour: PAKT is fantastic and is (literally) just around the corner.
Through Booking.com you can not only book hotels, but also choose from a wide range of accommodations, such as apartments, Bed & Breakfasts, luxury villas, houseboats, cozy holiday homes, forest houses and many more unique accommodations.
And then there's the hotel we've been mentioning for years when someone asks us for a relaxing, beautiful, and above all, truly wellness hotel: Hotel Julien. It's a wonderful place in the heart of the city, near Groenplaats and the Cathedral. The courtyard and, above all, the spa of this hotel, decorated in dark gray tones with a hint of oriental red, featuring delicious Aesop products in the hotel's vaulted cellar, are truly special gifts.
The 16th-century corner house, characteristic of Antwerp standards, is called 'Den Grooten Robijn', a name the building owes to Antwerp's rich history of gemstone trading. Sapphire House Antwerp, a boutique hotel that is both grand and impressive (grand in grandeur, history, and size), yet beautiful and intimate. The latter is so well achieved thanks to the many corridors, height differences, hidden spaces, and cozy sitting areas. That "beautiful" quality is due both to the already stately location and to the excellent work of the designers at Hugo Vormgevers (the photos in this article are from their website – we couldn't have chosen better ourselves). It's good to know that the Sapphire House is from the same design studio as Hotel The Den in 's-Hertogenbosch and The Slaak in Rotterdam – both tips, by the way. Certainly not "by the way" is point three on our checklist: what's the restaurant like? Or, in this case: what are the restaurants like? There are two, and they are, spoiler alert, superb.
"Because you always look at Toekan!" We continue to think it's a brilliant statement and a clever way to describe the recognizable logo of the Van der Valk hotel chain. But that's not the point here and now: before you switch channels, know that this Van der Valk, Van der Valk Hotel Park Lane has a f-antastic swimming pool and the price-quality ratio is absolutely excellent.
This is the second branch of the Van der Valk group. Not along the highway, but in the center of Antwerp. The four-star (superior) hotel boasts 174 luxurious rooms, a French-inspired restaurant, and a eye catcher from a bar. And your dog is more than welcome (how wonderful, considering Antwerp Park is right on your doorstep).
Anyone who knows "us from Barts Boekje" a little knows that you can make us very happy with a good, super classic hotel. The kind of place where they know their people. And when we tell you about your stay from Cabosse, Boutique Palace & Spa you can walk straight to the Museum of Fine Arts, just like to the City Park, that the hotel itself has an amazing garden just like golden swan cranes… You understand that we smitten Old chic with—okayokay—a slightly old-fashioned clientele (no problem!), a wonderful spa, and in-room massages: we'll be back.
