Yuzu Dining Bar is the modern-style Japanese Yakitori bar in Amsterdam
You probably knew Yuzu Dining on the Bierkade in The Hague. Here we enjoyed Japanese food streetfood from the Robatayaki grill. And now we can attack at the second branch, which has opened on Kerkstraat in Amsterdam. With an interior that you are used to from Yuzu: hip, a bit dark and sexy. With a different kitchen: Yuzu Dining Bar in Amsterdam there is one modern Japanese style Yakitori bar. And no, not the standard yakitori as you already know it (they have it too), but yakitori in different, exciting guises. Just sit down and enjoy a Yuzu sake, originally a drink you get when you are with friends. Cheers!
When you enter, the Japanese fall eye-catchers you right away. Chopsticks on the table, murals (so beautiful they almost look like wallpaper) of tigers and Japanese women, intimate lighting and lots of dark colors. They are the perfect ingredients for a night out in Amsterdam. Especially when the music goes a little louder later in the evening. You take a seat on the long bench against the wall, the large wooden tables or at the bar, so that you can immediately peek at all the goodies that the bartender is preparing. shake is. From every corner of the restaurant you have a view of the open kitchen - which is always wonderful to peek at.
Here too, Yuzu's men gave a modern one twist to classic Japanese cuisine. Where they previously grilled at high temperatures and bincotan charcoal in The Hague, in Amsterdam they serve ten different types of chicken yakitori with exciting side dishes to share. Build up the tension and start with a chicken thigh yakitori. If you then choose the chicken liver, you will be warmed up by the chicken hearts. Sounds scarier than it is, believe us, seriously tasty. No waste is central. On the side spoon a grilled avocado into a chili garlic glaze and eat your miso cucumber and sushi rice fries in smoked miso sauce (you'll want more of this!). Even the iceberg lettuce and hijiki seaweed salad looks too good to eat, but you do it anyway.
At Yuzu you start with a sake (duh) and it is tasty. Tastier than you might expect from a sake. To stay in the Japanese atmosphere, order a Japanese whiskey alternated with a signature shot of Yuzu sake from the bartender, who is certainly not afraid to enjoy one. And yes, this is such a dangerous shot that you want more of because it is so tasty. We were secretly told that you can also buy these on their own website. Just like the delicious secret sauce you dip the rice sticks in. Because Yuzu is open to late night drinks, you actually end up staying here until the early hours (until 02 a.m. on weekends) because you haven't tried the cocktails yet. You start with a fresh Yuzu Fizz and finish with one Chocolate Nikka from own Yuzu blend espresso. Yes, cancel those plans for tomorrow.
