Nice sailing routes through Croatia

With 1244 islands and a coastline of more than 6200 kilometers, Croatia is the perfect country for sailing. From idyllic bays, modern marinas, white beaches with azure water, rocky coastlines to ancient cities. Hop from island to island during your holiday and live the island life for a while. Here are the most beautiful sailing routes in Croatia:

Croatia is of course known for its turquoise blue water, sandy and pebble beaches, beautiful coastal towns and sights in cities such as Split, Dubrovnik and Zadar.

Every island is different, from pleasant squares and atmospheric streets to large harbours. While sailing you will probably spot dolphins and enjoy the Mediterranean climate (lovely temperatures)!

Hop along the Kornati islands and peninsulas of Šibenik
Zadar – Kornati – Šibenik

  • Start in the port city of Zadar. Climb the Zadar Clock Tower (the climb is totally worth the view). From Zadar you have many different sailing routes, these are short day trips but also longer sailing trips.
  • Kornati islands are definitely recommended. They are known for their wild nature and rocky coastline. You can also visit Telašćica bay with the salt lake and the high cliffs.
  • Make a stopover in the city of Šibenik. The bays of Šibenik are covered between the islands and peninsulas, making them ideal sailing conditions (even in windy weather).
  • Sail along the Krka River to the national park Krka waterfalls
  • Sail back to Zadar from Šibenik.

A busy nightlife, the most beautiful beach in Europe and amazing sunsets!
Split – Brač – Hvar- Vis- Šolta

  • A highlight of the Croatian Adriatic is the region around Split. Split is the second largest city in Croatia and is a popular port of call for sailors. Take a look at the historic center of Split (here you will find the Palace of Emperor Diocletian).
  • Depart from Split and sail to the island of Brač. You will then sail past wonderful beaches such as Zlatni Rat (a well-known beach).
  • From Brač you set course for the island of Hvar. The island is 70 kilometers long, enough space to lie on one of the nice beaches. If you feel like sitting on the terrace, you've come to the right place, because they have plenty of wine on the island.
  • From Hvar you cross to the island of Vis for an authentic atmosphere (for a change). There are many secluded bays on the island (it is often quiet here). Vis is considered the most mythical island in Croatia. This is due to the volcanic stones, which are very common on the island.
  • After Vis it is time for the slightly less known island of Šolta. Here you can swim in the azure blue sea (the island has a lot of local honey and wine).
  • After visiting all these islands you can return to Split. Split has a vibrant nightlife and a pleasant boulevard (Riva boulevard).

Discover the 'pearl of the Adriatic coast'
Dubrovnik – Lokrum – Korčula

  • Start your sailing trip in the old port of Dubrovnik. The city is also called the 'pearl of the Adriatic coast', and we understand that. Instagrammable Dubrovnik certainly is with its medieval, photogenic city walls and historic buildings. A perfect starting point for sailing adventures.
  • From Dubrovnik you can already see the next destination: Lokrum (here is the series Game of Thrones included). The island of Lokrum is known for its flora and fauna.
  • Make a stopover in Mljet National Park. More than 90% of this island is covered by forests. On the island you will also find white beaches and clear blue water, what more could you want?
  • Then sail to idyllic Korčula, known as the birthplace of explorer Marco Polo. Also visit a Moreška show, a traditional sword dance of the city, and explore the narrow streets and pleasant boulevard.
